About the job:

We are seeking an Executive Director to join our Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) Corporate & Investment Banking team, to be based in Frankfurt or London, to focus mainly on companies in Continental Europe. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the growth of the TMT client portfolio, client relationship management, transaction execution, and business development, working closely with Global & Regional TMT bankers, product groups, and external stakeholders to deliver best-in-class financial advisory and capital markets solutions.
This role is a unique opportunity with significant responsibility and an ability to positively impact a global growth platform, which offers the candidate exposure to clients, products and BBVA senior leadership.

Major/Essential Job Duties

  • Manage relationships with clients along Senior Bankers or independently and leads or co-ordinates relationships with their subsidiaries by generating ideas, proposing product solutions and pricing.

  • Reviews and analyses financial statements, credit data, company announcements and guidance.

  • Leads on the preparation of pitch materials, in coordination with product teams, for clients in the portfolio and prospects.

  • Works with the Risk teams and Bank committees as needed in order to extend new credit lines / maintain BBVA ́s financial exposure / limits for a particular client.

  • Identifies new client prospects and undertakes all required steps to onboard clients, eg "know your customer" process and to approve transactions in BBVA business committees.

  • Participates on negotiation of contracts with clients and leads or participates in project implementation teams in cooperation with other product / country teams.

  • Reviews, analyses and evaluates actual and potential global returns both for specific client transactions as well as overall profitability of the client.

  • Leverages sector and product knowledge as well as overall business acumen to engage in value-delivering conversations with key business leaders to get at the heart of their business issues, challenges and seeks opportunities as well as their performance drivers in order to confidently present the most appropriate research and analytic solution(s).

  • Collaborate in defining the portfolio strategy, business plans and financial forecasts for the TMT sector.

  • In partnership with other CIB units (product, risk...), drive the execution of the TMT strategy, to achieve new business objectives, maintain current revenue streams, expand market share and increase the share of wallet with target clients.

  • Collaborate with the Industry/Global/Local Banker in the commercial management, begin to build long-term external relationships and manage accounts: (i) Understand clients' needs and strategic decisions, (ii) Identify and generate new business opportunities with existing or prospective clients, (iii) Visit/call clients proactively, providing a global coverage and acting as a link between BBVA and the client.

  • Stay informed on TMT industry trends, regulatory developments, and market dynamics, translating insights into actionable strategies for clients.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in similar roles, preferably with a focus on the TMT sector.

  • Previous financial modelling experience, strong understanding of financial analysis and transaction structuring. 

  • Strong knowledge of banking products and services.

  • Experience on client relationship management and business development.

  • Hands-on attitude and good attention to details.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.

  • Fluency in English. Spanish would be a plus, but not required.
