The business unit encompasses Global Markets, Global Investment and Corporate Banking, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Global Payments.

Job Purpose

The Executive Director, Business Intelligence and Analytics, supports the Head of International Banking in developing strategy, new initiatives and client plans across international operations.

This is an individual contributor position with no direct people management responsibilities. Success in this role is achieved through effective collaboration, influence, and partnership with a diverse range of internal stakeholders across various international regions, functions, and seniority levels.

The role works in close coordination with regional and global leadership, product partners, technology, risk, finance, and operations teams to ensure that data, insights, and reporting are aligned with business priorities. While this position operates independently and is responsible for delivering its own outcomes, it depends on strong stakeholder engagement to gather requirements, challenge assumptions, and drive consistent results across international operations.

Key Accountabilities
  • Assist the Head of International Banking in shaping and influencing business development and planning, serving as a key driver for all regional development matters related to business initiatives.

  • Lead the business planning process, ensuring alignment with CIBC and Capital Markets business development plans and priorities.

  • Provide robust and competitive intelligence for the international businesses through formal research, industry surveys, and industry contacts to maintain awareness of the financial marketplace, evolving market dynamics, competitive business plans, and client needs.

  • Work with the Head of International Banking to lead and execute business initiatives and projects, enabling businesses to achieve their mandate, goals, and objectives.

  • Consult with management and provide direction for all international initiatives and projects as needed.

  • Develop business plans and requirements for projects and initiatives in collaboration with business leaders and various support partners.

Compliance Requirements and Responsibilities

As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must adhere to all relevant CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines, and controls.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial and regulatory markets, with strong familiarity with Capital Markets products and an in-depth knowledge of banks' balance sheets, especially regarding funding and capital.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and provide clear, actionable recommendations to senior stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in AI-enabled and advanced analytics tools, with experience in applying machine learning, automation, and generative AI capabilities to enhance analysis, decision-making, and business outcomes.

  • Advanced research skills, including the ability to source, evaluate, synthesize, and validate information from multiple internal and external data sources to support strategic initiatives and executive-level reporting.

  • Strong data literacy and technical understanding, with experience working with structured and unstructured data, data models, dashboards, and reporting frameworks commonly used in Business Intelligence environments.

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely, tailoring insights for both technical and non-technical audiences, and producing high-quality written materials, presentations, and executive summaries.

  • Sound commercial and business judgment, with a clear understanding of how data and analytics support strategic objectives, risk management, performance measurement, and operational efficiency.

  • Experience collaborating across functions, such as technology, risk, finance, and business teams, with the ability to influence outcomes without direct authority.

  • Strong attention to detail and data quality, with a disciplined approach to validation, controls, and governance to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of insights.

  • Capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, balancing short-term deliverables with longer-term analytical and strategic initiatives.

  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and accountability, with a commitment to confidentiality, regulatory awareness, and responsible use of data and AI tools.
