eFX Platform Engineering Product Owner

London | Full-time | Permanent

Help shape and run the technology that supports a busy electronic FX trading and sales environment. This role combines hands-on platform engineering with Product Owner ownership: contributing to technical delivery, strengthening service resilience, and helping turn stakeholder priorities into a clear, actionable team backlog.

The team

The London eFX platform team supports, maintains and develops trading technology within the Financial Markets Technology domain. We work in an agile delivery model and focus on reliable service, secure change, observability, automation, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with engineers, front-office stakeholders, IT management, tribe product managers and chapter leads to keep the platform stable today while shaping the roadmap for tomorrow.

Roles and responsibilities

As an engineering-focused Product Owner, you will stay close to the technology while helping the team deliver the right outcomes. You will:

  • Contribute to platform engineering, support and change delivery, keeping stability, reliability, security and operational quality at the centre of delivery.

  • Own and prioritise the team backlog, translating stakeholder needs, technical debt, risk items and service improvements into clear, actionable work.

  • Maintain the platform technical roadmap and align delivery priorities with stakeholders across trading, sales, IT management and product management.

  • Use strong analytical skills to break down incidents, service issues and technical problems, supporting root-cause analysis and measurable improvement actions.

  • Improve observability by strengthening meaningful monitoring, alerting, service-level measures and reporting using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.

  • Drive automation through Azure DevOps, pipelines, YAML and Ansible, reducing manual activity and improving repeatability, control and delivery confidence.

  • Support robust change, release and risk management practices, ensuring changes are planned, tested, deployed and evidenced appropriately.

  • Create transparency on capacity, delivery options and trade-offs, including input into Quarterly Business Review planning and stakeholder communication.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

  • You have strong technical knowledge across Linux and Windows environments, connectivity, automation, administration and operational tooling.

  • You can analyse complex technical or service issues, structure options clearly and turn findings into practical backlog items and improvement actions.

  • You understand agile delivery and can balance stakeholder priorities, team capacity, technical debt, risk and operational resilience.

  • You have experience with automation and delivery tooling such as Azure DevOps, YAML, Ansible or comparable pipeline technologies.

  • You understand service management, IT risk, security expectations and the evidence needed to demonstrate control in a financial-services environment.

  • You communicate clearly with engineers and senior stakeholders, work well in a team, and are comfortable taking ownership while helping others succeed.

Useful experience

  • Observability strategies and tooling, including meaningful monitoring, alerting and service-level reporting.

  • Resilient architecture concepts, including active-active designs, disaster recovery scenarios and recovery testing.

  • ITIL practices, incident management, problem management, change management and post-incident improvement.

  • Electronic markets, foreign exchange, trading platforms or other Financial Markets technology environments.

  • Product Owner, technical lead, service owner or platform ownership experience.

  • AI-assisted engineering or productivity tooling, such as Microsoft 365 Copilot or GitHub Copilot.

Rewards and benefits

We want to make sure that it’s possible for you to strike the right balance between your career and your private life.

The benefits of working with us at ING include:

  • Comprehensive health cover, including private medical, dental, vision, health screening and in-person GP appointments.

  • Generous pension scheme and financial protection, including life assurance, income protection, access to pension guidance and will writing services, and an interest-free season ticket loan.

  • Hybrid working and flexibility to work remotely for up to 30 days abroad.

  • Generous annual leave, with the option to purchase additional days and time off for key life events.

  • Wellbeing and family support, including an Employee Assistance Programme, back-up child and elder care, enhanced family leave policies and support coaching for new parents.

  • Lifestyle benefits such as electric vehicle and cycle to work schemes, an on-site gym and access to on-site staff restaurant and barista coffee facilities.

  • Opportunities for personal and professional growth through mentoring, learning, short-term assignments and international career development.
