The opportunity

As a Legal Counsel, you will offer expert legal support for the Enterprise Software business activities across the EMEA region. Your responsibilities will encompass comprehensive legal support in the management and execution of all contracts, overseeing potential disputes, and handling various day-to-day business operations. If you possess refined legal skills, can tackle complex issues within an international corporate setting, and are determined, energetic, and capable of influencing at all levels, we invite you to join our team.

How you’ll make an impact

• Contract Management: Provide professional and business-oriented support with EMEA commercial contracts, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing all contracts with customers, partners, vendors, and suppliers on software contracts (license, maintenance, consulting services, SaaS, escrow, etc)
• Legal Advice: Offer targeted legal advice to support key strategic goals, safeguard the company's reputation and interests, and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate and work cross-functionally with other legal counsels, sales, finance, and other business functions in the EMEA region
• Training: Provide training to internal clients on relevant contracting issues
• Policy Development: Develop and implement standards, policies, and procedures related to this function
• Dispute Resolution and Litigation Management: Advise on the resolution of pre-litigation claims and disputes and handle complex commercial litigation matters in EMEA, including selecting, engaging, and managing outside counsel, and collaborating with Hitachi Energy local counsels

Your background

• Educational Background: Master’s degree in law within EMEA, preferably with qualification in both common and civil law
• Experience: Five years of general corporate legal and software/digital legal experience in a corporate legal department or law firm. Knowledge in Cybersecurity and Data Protection is a plus
• Work style: Business- and solution-driven approach with yet the ability to provide accurate, high-quality legal advice and a sound judgment in developing and implementing legal solutions
• Personal Attitude: Responsiveness and high degree of responsibility with the willingness to think “out of the box”
• Environment: Ability to work under pressure in a cross-functional and cross-cultural environment that is changing and may be challenging
• Communication and Language Skills: Well-developed oral and written communication skills in English; French and German is an advantage
