What is Flagstone?

Flagstone is many things. An online savings platform, reinventing how individuals, businesses, and charities manage, protect, and grow their cash. A diverse group of people, bound by a collaborative spirit, and shared purpose. And lastly, a thriving, profitable business – where smart people do their best work.

Each definition shares a common thread: our unique culture. It’s our pride and joy. And our competitive advantage.

A feel for our culture:

To revolutionise the savings market, we need to be at our best. But high performance takes more than talent – it takes a culture of kindness, respect, and growth.

That’s why we’re building a diverse, inclusive community, where your voice is heard and valued. Where, with close support and room to develop, you can surpass even your own expectations. And be rewarded for it.

We may not change the world, but we can change the world of financial technology. And all it takes is a winning mix of drive, talent, and empathy. Our culture celebrates all three.
But enough about us. Let’s talk about you.

Does this sound like you?

You’re an Engineering Lead, ideally with 10 years’ experience, who’s excited to forge a new way to save. You’re excited about producing and maintaining high quality systems to achieve business objectives through contributions to the development process, including system design/architecture and performance management of the team. You work in partnership with relevant teams across an organisation to identify how technology can solve business challenges and will be capable of answering “how and why” technology is designed and delivered.

What you’ll do:

As an Engineering Lead, you will coach and mentor other Engineers, helping them develop better solutions and understand system design with a focus on their career progression and personal development. You will also be responsible for effective performance management and driving an environment of high performance. The Engineering Lead will also support the Product Manager in terms of understanding & scheduling of upcoming work including resourcing, and will be responsible for the day-to-day running and delivery of the squad’s work stream.
What you’ll bring:

We are a Microsoft shop, so our core language is C# and our platform is entirely in the cloud on Azure where we use a variety of PaaS type services including Web Apps, Functions, Azure SQL, Cosmos, Azure Service Bus, AppInsights, APIM etc. The Engineering Lead will require both people management and technical ability, and we’d love to see experience in a combination of the below:

  • Excellent commercial development experience with C# / .Net / .Net Core.
  • A good understanding of SOLID principles, Event Driven Architecture (EDA) and Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
  • Experience of RESTful API design
  • Experience of Azure cloud development, and a cloud-first approach
  • SQL skills
  • A good foundation in Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies, demonstrating proficiency in writing and maintaining test cases using one or more of the following libraries, or similar: NUnit, Microsoft.TestFramework and Selenium
  • Emotional intelligence. You actively listen and provide thoughtful solutions
  • Proactivity and the ability to demonstrate initiative positively and collaboratively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability and enthusiasm to coach, mentor and guide engineers
  • Stakeholder management
  • Problem solving ability

How we reward you:

At Flagstone, the benefits extend beyond false gifts like “fruit and snacks”. Instead, we invest in your health, wealth, and professional development. Here’s a selection of our benefits:

  • Private healthcare
  • Life insurance (four times your annual salary)
  • Dental/optical care
  • Matched pension contributions (5%)
  • Income protection
  • Around the World in 90 days (remote working)
  • £1,000 annual learning bursary
  • 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays)
  • Home working kit
  • Additional 3 days community and charity leave each year
  • Quarterly half days for Wellness leave
  • Flexible bank holidays
  • Gym discount

All are welcome.

At Flagstone, we’re assembling a diverse team that defies our industry’s norms. Think this role could suit you? We encourage you to apply, no matter your background.
