SALARY: £90,440 - £106,400 per annum
LOCATION: Leeds
HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Leeds office.

Exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our Segments & Propositions Team in Leeds.
Segments & Propositions is the segment of customers with between £50,000 and £5 million in investable assets. We have close to three million Mass Affluent customers, and we are working hard to create greenfield personalised and tailored offering to ensure a beautiful banking experience. We want to provide a seamless digital experience, with the right products and services at our customers’ fingertips, but our face-to-face, telephone and secure messaging remain a vital part of our service.
As an Engineering Manager within the Segments & Propositions Platform you’ll be a manager of people. You’ll see your team as your product. While you are technically credible and know the details of what engineer’s work, your time will be spent safeguarding the team’s health, owning delivery of product commitments and always looking to improve productivity. You’ll lead the team in designing their systems to be scalable, available and secure.

What you’ll do…
Manage 1–2 teams of high calibre Software Engineers working on building, scaling world-class, distributed systems
Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach software engineers at different levels of experience
Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments within an Agile/Scrum environment
Contribute to and lead design, architecture, process and development discussions
Own all operational metrics and support for your teams' software
Drive improvements in software engineering practices across engineering teams
Lead design reviews for the org, participate in design reviews, provide insightful code reviews, and actively mentor other engineers
What you’ll need…
Experience leading high-performing engineering teams, ideally in a high-scale, distributed environment.
Strong technical background in at least one software engineering discipline.
Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines for scalable and automated deployments.
Understanding of modern API-driven architectures.
Strong focus on observability and monitoring, ensuring system reliability and performance.
A pragmatic approach to balancing technical debt, product velocity, and operational reliability.
Passion for both people development and hands-on technical leadership.
Comfortable working in an environment where data-driven decision-making and experimentation drive improvements.
