What do we do?

Paddle offers SaaS companies a completely different approach to their payments infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of payments fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better.

We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 3000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.

The Role:

We’re changing how billing and commerce are thought of for SaaS companies which requires combining both a stable platform and a flexible and discovery based approach to building out the product. Our people are extremely important to us, so strong mentoring and personal development skills are key for our Engineering Manager role.

Each of our eight product teams have a Product Manager, Engineering Manager and between 4 - 8 engineers. The teams are set up with a clear area of product ownership along with goals that give them clarity on who they’re building for and freedom to choose how best to do that. These teams are cross-functional in nature with the PM and the Engineering Manager sharing responsibility for delivery; design being involved from discovery to delivery and members from other departments being pulled in as required.

Working with our other Engineering Managers and our CTO, you'll help guide the department engineering principles and you'll be involved in technical decisions with your team, ensuring the team is working in the right way and developing your team both personally and professionally.

We believe a strong relationship between Engineering, Product and Design means building a better product for the customer, developing that within and outside your sphere of influence is crucial to our continued success.

What you'll do:

  • Own your team’s technical direction, growth and how they work;

  • Develop your team personally and professionally so they are high performing and happy;

  • Help drive Paddle forwards as a Product-led company;

  • Have the autonomy to do what you think is right (and change what isn’t working)

  • Help remove blockers for your team;

  • Work with your Product Manager and Product Designer to influence Paddle’s business direction;

  • Be involved in hiring and Paddle’s continued growth.

  • Manage, mentor and coach a team of highly performing Engineers

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • You have a software development background;

  • You love developing people and product, and have experience growing engineering teams;

  • You’re self aware and always open to improving and pushing on how you can get better

  • You’re passionate about the discovery phase of new features;

  • You can confidently have technical discussions with your team;

  • You're comfortable working with non-technical stakeholders;

  • You’re proactive and enjoy taking ownership;

  • You understand the importance of product and design and how great products stem from these relationships

Everyone is welcome at Paddle

At Paddle, we’re committed to removing invisible barriers, both for our customers and within our own teams. We recognise and celebrate that every Paddler is unique and we welcome every individual perspective. As an inclusive employer we don’t care if, or where, you studied, what you look like or where you’re from. We’re more interested in your craft, curiosity, passion for learning and what you’ll add to our culture. We encourage you to apply even if you don’t match every part of the job ad, especially if you’re part of an underrepresented group.
Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to better support you through the application process and in the workplace. We will do everything we can to support any accommodations needed. We’re committed to building a diverse team where everyone feels safe to be their authentic self. Let’s grow together.

Why you’ll love working at Paddle

We are a diverse, growing group of Paddlers across the globe who pride ourselves on our transparent, collaborative and respectful culture.

We live and breathe our values, which are:

Exceptional Together

Execute with impact

Better than Yesterday

We offer a full suite of benefits, including attractive salaries, stock options, retirement plans, private healthcare and wellbeing initiatives.

We are a ‘digital-first’ company, which means you can work remotely, from one of our stylish hubs, or even a bit of both! We offer all team members unlimited holidays and 4 months paid family leave regardless of gender. We invest in learning and will help you with your personal development via constant exposure to new challenges, an annual learning fund, and regular internal and external training.

What you need to know about the London Tech Scene

London isn't just a hub for established businesses; it's also a nursery for innovation. Boasting one of the most recognized fintech ecosystems in Europe, attracting billions in investments each year, London's success has made it a go-to destination for startups looking to make their mark. Top U.K. companies like Hoptin, Moneybox and Marshmallow have already made the city their base — yet fintech is just the beginning. From healthtech to renewable energy to cybersecurity and beyond, the city's startups are breaking new ground across a range of industries.
