About Skyscanner:

Everyone loves travelling, but planning it? Not so much. That’s why we’ve spent 20 years building tools that turn travel- planning chaos into a breeze. Today, around 100 million travellers count on us every month to skip the whole “47 browser tabs open” phase and find flights, cars, and hotels quickly and easily.

Joining Skyscanner means becoming part of a global brand that's striving to become the planet’s go- to travel hack accessible for all. Our vision? To be the world’s number one travel ally. (Ambitious? Yes, but, hey, that’s what got us here.)

About the Role:

Shape the future of SEO in the GenAI era

Want to help redefine how millions of travellers search for their next trip? We are looking for an Engineering Manager for one of the teams that sits right at the front door of Skyscanner’s business, building and optimising the landing pages that bring new users to our platform every day. In this role, you’ll lead and manage a talented team of engineers on an ambitious journey: increasing organic sessions and exploring new avenues in AI-driven search trends.

This is your chance to experiment, innovate, and collaborate—while directly contributing to our mission of helping travellers everywhere.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and manage an 8-strong engineer squad focused on building and optimising Flights, Destinations and Visa SEO landing pages
  • Partner closely with Design and Marketing, ensuring our pages are both technically excellent and user-centric.
  • Drive experimentation and data-driven decision making, from rapid A/B tests to long-term improvements.
  • Collaborate extensively with colleagues across the business, building shared solutions at scale.
  • Guide and empower the team across React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and a touch of Java and Python.
  • Coach and develop engineers into a high-performing team, fostering a culture of growth, curiosity, and traveller-first thinking.

What can you expect day-to-day?

As the Engineering Manager, you will build and lead a high-performing team:

  • Define, prioritise, and deliver innovative roadmaps in an ambiguous space.
  • Onboard, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, promoting their professional growth and development.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability that drives the team's success.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in different disciplines and agencies to identify challenges and develop impactful solutions.
  • Support the team in delivering results in a domain that is critical to Skyscanner’s mission of scaling to serve 10 billion customers.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience leading engineering teams or squads, ideally in consumer-facing web products.
  • Strong technical fluency in modern frontend frameworks (React, TypeScript, JavaScript).
  • Appreciation for or direct experience in SEO and organic growth.
  • A data-driven mindset, with a passion for experimentation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build bridges across design, marketing, and global teams.
  • Growth mindset—curious, adaptable, and eager to explore how GenAI and search innovation will shape the future.
  • A genuine passion for realising Skyscanner’s vision of becoming the world's number one travel ally!

Why join us

  • An opportunity to be the world’s number one ally to all travellers!
  • Make a direct, measurable impact on Skyscanner’s growth by driving organic sessions - one of our core business goal.
  • Work closely with brilliant colleagues in London, Edinburgh, and Shenzhen.
  • Lead in one of the most exciting problem spaces in travel: the intersection of SEO, AI, and user experience.

What it’s like here:

We are the real deal — no corporate gloss, no empty promises. Just a team of genuinely curious, caring humans, building things that help travellers explore the world a little easier.

Skyscanner is made up of brilliant humans from every corner of the world. We believe travel makes the world better - and that the same is true of our diverse teams. We're proud to be an equal opportunities employer and are committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive and products that are accessible to all.

Sounds like your kind of adventure? Apply now and help us shape the future of travel.

We're committed to ensuring our application and recruitment processes are inclusive and accessible to everyone. If you require any reasonable adjustments or accommodations for interviews, please let us know. If you’d like more information on any of our policies, such as hybrid working or Parental Leave policies (typically we pay a minimum of 24 weeks birth parent/maternity leave globally), our recruitment team can provide more information on these.
