JD.com is seeking an experienced software engineering manager who can lead the software development of our eCommerce mobile apps and web apps in European countries such as the UK, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. In this role, you will make key technical decisions, design the architecture for our international retail core systems, and build and lead your own team. You will work closely with the data science, marketing, commercial, and operations teams to deliver user-centric solutions in a dynamic, international environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Make key technical decisions and design the architecture for JD’s international core systems to ensure these systems meet high standards for performance, availability, concurrency, security, and scalability.
  • Optimizing system performance continuously.
  • Identify and assess technical risks during project implementation, focusing on aspects such as monitorability, maintainability, and the ability to perform gray-scale releases and rollbacks. Develop and execute effective risk control strategies.
  • Explore and apply new technologies and methods in the field. Identify integration points for new technologies and architectures.
  • Promote the growth of the team’s technical capabilities and enhance architectural foresight.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in designing architectures for well-known e-commerce platforms either domestically or internationally.
  • Recent experience in leading a team of software engineers and driving high performance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong server-side architecture capabilities with a deep understanding of common middleware, such as data and message services, and extensive experience in high-availability systems.
  • Solid coding skills, high standards for clean code, and a relentless pursuit of technical excellence.
  • Excellent English and Chinese written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen, collaboration skills, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Committed to open-source projects.
  • Proven track record of large user base apps (e.g. managing app products with over 1 million daily active users).
  • Experience in eCommerce industry in Europe.
