As an Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction of your domain, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our customers. You will foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence while driving continuous improvement and professional growth within your team.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:

  • Architectural Oversight: Partner with senior engineers to ensure long-term architectural consistency.
  • System Integrity: Take accountability for the reliability, availability, and security of our systems.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure all systems have appropriate support, SLAs, on-call rotas, and comprehensive documentation.

Delivery Management:

  • Execution: Responsible for team delivery, including sprint planning and monitoring overall project health.
  • Flow Optimization: Assess the criticality of unplanned work to minimize context-switching and unnecessary pressure.
  • Capacity Planning: Balance team bandwidth with roadmap demands and business priorities.
  • Quality at Speed: Instill a sense of urgency while maintaining a healthy balance between velocity and code quality.
  • Incident Response: Ensure all incidents are owned and resolved efficiently.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Product Partnership: Act as the primary liaison between Engineering and Product, ensuring full alignment on goals and strategy.
  • Communication: Proactively communicate progress and escalate blockers or risks effectively to stakeholders.

People Management:

  • Team Stability: Lead and stabilize a team of engineers across various seniority levels.
  • Growth & Coaching: Provide active coaching, regular performance reviews, and clear career pathing.
  • Culture: Foster an environment of extreme ownership, psychological safety, and radical feedback.
  • Talent Acquisition: Demonstrate a proven ability to hire, grow, and retain high-performing engineering talent.

Process & Performance:

  • Execution: Ensure company processes are executed effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Metrics-Driven: Accountable for team KPIs, including velocity, quality, on-time delivery, morale, and staffing.
  • Budgeting: Manage limited budgets for tooling or specific project-related costs.

Qualifications:

  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record as an Engineering Manager or in a similar leadership role supporting engineers.
  • FinTech Expertise: Previous experience specifically within the payments industry is highly preferred.
  • Technical Depth: Deep understanding of software development methodologies, agile processes, and industry best practices.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making abilities.
  • Mindset: A strong passion for technology, innovation, and solving complex problems.

What We Offer:

  • Compensation: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Impact: The opportunity to work on challenging and rewarding projects in the FinTech space.
  • Environment: A collaborative, supportive, and high-energy work culture.
  • Growth: Be a key player in a dynamic and rapidly growing company.
