At E.ON Next, this is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and people focused Frontend Engineering Manager to lead and nurture a talented frontend team while shaping the future of digital energy experiences. You will play a key role in creating inclusive, supportive environments where frontend engineers feel empowered to grow, collaborate and deliver intuitive, high-quality user experiences that contribute to a more sustainable future.

Blending strong frontend technical expertise with compassionate leadership, you will guide your team through complex challenges, contribute hands-on across modern web technologies and help define the strategic direction of frontend engineering. This role is suited to someone who enjoys mentoring others, leading with empathy and driving innovation across user-facing platforms, including opportunities to work with generative AI and machine learning to enhance customer and developer experiences.

As a London based role, you will join the office once per week (Wednesday or Thursday), with occasional travel to other locations such as Nottingham. While you may not have direct reports from day one, there is a clear and exciting pathway to grow and shape your own team over time. We are looking for someone with 7–10 years’ experience who feels confident leading projects, mentoring others and setting direction, with a strong technical foundation across React, React Native, Python, TypeScript and Terraform.

Senior – 7–10 years’ experience, providing direction, mentoring others and leading projects.

Here’s a taste of what you’ll be doing:

  • Shape and contribute to the frontend strategy, aligning technical direction with wider business goals

  • Take ownership of delivery outcomes, working closely with product and stakeholder teams to achieve shared success

  • Champion engineering excellence, encouraging best practices and building scalable, maintainable frontend solutions

  • Empower engineers through coaching and mentorship, creating space for autonomy, growth and confidence

  • Collaborate across teams to build strong, trusting relationships and seamless ways of working

  • Explore and introduce innovative technologies, including AI and LLMs, to enhance user and developer experiences

  • Remain hands-on by contributing code, supporting complex problem-solving and leading thoughtful code reviews

Are we the perfect match?
  • Proven experience in a leadership or management role within engineering, with a nurturing and empowering approach

  • Strong hands-on expertise in React and TypeScript, with the confidence to guide frontend architectural decisions

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams while contributing technically, balancing delivery with people development

  • Solid experience with modern engineering practices, including Agile and DevOps principles

  • Experience in mobile development, with React Native and/or Flutter and an understanding of cross-platform architectures

It would be great if you had:
  • Experience with Next.js and/or broader full-stack development

  • Exposure to AI, machine learning or LLM integrations within digital products

  • Familiarity with backend technologies such as Python or infrastructure tools like Terraform

  • Experience working within fast-paced, evolving environments

  • Knowledge of microservices or serverless architectures

Here’s what else you need to know:
