Engineering Leadership Development Program - Embedded Software

Entry-level engineering leadership program participants complete three onsite one-year rotations across embedded software, design, test, production support, and systems engineering. The program provides technical and leadership training, mentorship, networking, and tuition assistance for a required technical master’s degree. Participants must relocate among designated U.S. facilities, beginning in Sterling Heights, Michigan, or Minneapolis, Minnesota. Some rotations may require obtaining and maintaining a Department of Defense security clearance.

The ELDP is a three-year rotational program designed to develop high potential, entry-level individuals into future leaders. You'll have the opportunity to experience assignments in several operational functions, business areas, and product groups nationwide.

The official Leadership Program Cohort begins in June. If you have already completed your bachelor's degree or graduate in December, you may be eligible to begin employment at BAE Systems, Inc. prior to the start depending on business conditions. However, additional program elements such as trainings, projects and committees will not begin until your cohort start date. If relocating, you would also have to relocate to your designated location to begin the early start. Ask your recruiter about LDP early start if you are available and believe you may be eligible.

The Platforms & Services (P&S) sector under BAE Systems, Inc does the big stuff: the armored combat vehicles, naval guns, missile launchers, and naval ship repair. Combat vehicle programs you could support include the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV), Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV), M109A7 Self-Propelled Howitzer, M88A2/A3 HERCULES Recovery Vehicle, and the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. In the Weapons Systems side of Combat Mission Systems, programs include Next Generation ESSM Launching (NGEL) System, Mk 38, Mk45 Naval Gun Systems, Vertical Launch Systems (VLS), Hypervelocity Projectile (HVP), and others. Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $63653 - $108210
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

As an Engineering Leadership Development Program participant, you will gain:
- Experience: The ELDP consists of three, onsite one-year rotations; each with increasing responsibility. It is designed to provide diverse set of experiences within Engineering areas and disciplines. ELDP participants are also exposed to a variety of networking opportunities and strategic project initiatives.
- Flexibility: The ELDP does provide flexibility for program participants. This flexibility includes ELDP participant input of 2nd and 3rd rotational assignments and/or geographic location but is ultimately dependent on business need and availability.
- Education: It is a requirement of this program to complete a technical Master's Degree Program. BAE Systems offers robust tuition assistance for graduate school. The school and specific technical degree is left up to the candidate, providing it is applicable to the business and the program structure and approved by Program Manager.
- Opportunity to travel: Our ELDP primarily rotating to locations within the United States and Platforms and Services footprint. Your first rotation and final placement will be at Sterling Heights, MI or Minneapolis, MN. Your second or third rotations may be at one of our production facilities in York, PA or Louisville, KY.
- Mentorship: A mentor is assigned to each ELDP participant to expose them to diverse and challenging experiences, while providing guidance in career development and off-program placement.
- Personal growth: The program seeks to facilitate the growth of an individual's leadership skills through an annual, week-long leadership development conference (LDC). This conference provides personalized leadership training as well as an opportunity to network with senior BAE Systems executives and other leadership development program participants across the company. Participants can also expect to complete a technical and leadership curriculum during the program which will provide a holistic career development experience through a mix of in-person and virtual trainings.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Software/Computer Engineering
- Demonstrated collaboration and leadership abilities in academic and non-academic pursuits
- Internship/Co-Op or project experience in embedded software/systems
- Relocate during the rotational program at least once ensuring experience at a minimum of two of our facilities
- Start at Sterling Heights, MI or Minneapolis, MN locations, with subsequent rotational possibilities including York, PA and Louisville, KY
- Start your technical master's degree during the program with completion two years from the end of the program.
- Depending on your rotations, some may be required to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance
