About 9fin

9fin is the AI platform powering global debt markets — the world’s largest asset class at over $145 trillion.

Debt markets are vast, global, and mission-critical, yet still run on fragmented data, PDFs, and manual workflows. 9fin replaces this broken infrastructure with a single platform that centralises proprietary credit data, deep analysis, and high-value workflows across global markets.

Today, 9fin powers teams at 300+ blue-chip institutions worldwide, including global banks, asset managers, private equity firms, law firms, and advisors. The business is scaling at exceptional speed, with rapid expansion in the US and best-in-class retention driven by deep workflow adoption.

We’re at a defining inflection point. With proven product-market fit and strong, global market pull, 9fin is accelerating toward becoming the category-defining platform for debt markets worldwide.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an Engineering Lead with proven experience to help scale our platform, set technical direction, and build a high-performing team that delivers meaningful product experiences. You will be at the center of how we make complex data accessible, reliable, and impactful, guiding engineers to solve high-value challenges across data, product, and infrastructure. Our managers do more than oversee projects. They shape critical decisions that influence every part of product development.

We expect our leads to come from a highly technical background, as well as being masters of their craft, able to dive into details, sharpen fundamentals, and continually hone their skills. Cavalry officers must be able to ride horses. You are a skilled engineer with leadership experience, bringing not only a deep love for the engineering craft but also the recognition that your greatest impact comes from enabling others to thrive.

What you’ll work on

Every day is different, but here’s a dose of the kind of things you’ll be doing:

  • Build and guide a high-performing, cross-functional engineering team. Foster a culture where engineers feel motivated, empowered, and proud of the impact they create.

  • Stay engaged with technical design, code reviews, and architectural decisions, setting a high bar for technical excellence while balancing leadership responsibilities.

  • Translate ambitious product visions into scalable, production-ready solutions by making sound, data-driven technical and strategic decisions.

  • Partner closely with product managers, designers, and data teams to align on priorities, shape roadmaps, and deliver user features and platform capabilities.

  • Coach and develop senior engineers, enabling them to take ownership of technical initiatives and expand their influence across the organization.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of system architecture, performance, and reliability to guide long-term investment in stability and scalability.

  • Hire, onboard, and support exceptional engineering talent. Dedicate time to one-on-one conversations to understand motivations, build trust, and strengthen team dynamics.

About You

This role will be a great fit if you:

  • Proven experience leading high-performing engineering teams and delivering impactful products.

  • Have deep technical expertise, including in software development and system design. You will ideally have expertise in at least one of our core technologies (e.g., Python, TypeScript, AWS, Terraform) and experience designing and building scalable systems.

  • Product and design-oriented, skilled at translating user and business needs into high-quality solutions.

  • Effective communicator and collaborator across engineering, product, and design.

  • Passionate about mentoring, developing talent, and fostering inclusive, positive team culture.

  • Committed to operational excellence, long-term technical quality, and reliable systems.

  • Track record of shipping iteratively at a fast cadence while ensuring sustainable growth.
