As a Project Engineer at our flagship Bournville Plant (home of Cadbury's), you will be instrumental in planning, developing, and executing capital projects. You will support technical developments, assess the feasibility of engineering activities within the supply chain, and manage capital expense projects to drive growth, world-class manufacturing, and productivity while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental responsibility. You will also leverage Mondelēz's project management processes and ensure adherence to company standards.
How you will contribute
In this role, you will lead a portion of the Project Engineering agenda within the UK&I Cluster and oversee specific areas of the Cluster site strategy, aligning with site compliance, productivity, and development objectives. You will develop and implement multiple projects.

You will also support the broader site and cluster teams as a key technical expert, leading significant projects. This position is based in Bournville, but the candidate will be expected to work at any of the UK&I Confectionery plants as needed.

How you will contribute
In this role, you will lead a portion of the Project Engineering agenda within the UK&I Cluster and oversee specific areas of the Cluster site strategy, aligning with site compliance, productivity, and development objectives. You will develop and implement multiple projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Project scope could cover many areas but especially, chocolate moulding & forming processes, packaging, palletising and site infrastructure & services.
- Concurrently manages portfolio of projects (upwards of $1MM/annum).
- Fit-for-purpose technical solutions, development and implementation of state-of-the-art processes and equipment strategies to optimize resources, harmonize assets, and roll out best practices. Create detailed technical specifications & reports.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders from multiple departments to define and execute capital and technical agendas during the complete project cycle. Share and learn from best practices around the Mondelez global network.
- Development and delivery of accurate budgets in accordance with contractual obligations, including accurate forecasting of cash flow, finding the best value for cost for chosen schemes.
- Effective time plans clearly defining tasks, estimating durations, identifying dependencies, allocating resources, and setting realistic deadlines, while accounting for potential risks.
- Ensuring the implementation of engineering safety, quality, hygiene and environmental standards. Reverse engineering where information does not exist.
- Supplier & contractor management throughout the project.
- Existing practices, methods and technology are challenged and opportunities to improve factory productivity, safety and quality are proactively sought, driving several capital projects, to help deliver the factories forward plan.
- A thorough and continue professional development in understanding of all aspects of confectionery making, wrapping, packing and services, particularly within the Chocolate category is developed, and external supplier developments are kept up to date with.
You will also support the broader site and cluster teams as a key technical expert, leading significant projects. This position is based in Bournville, but the candidate will be expected to work at any of the UK&I Confectionery plants as needed.

- Technical expertise across engineering disciplines and a passion to drive efficiencies and technology forward.
Career experience
- Relevant experience in Project Management Engineering - ideally within food or FMCG industry.
- An engineering degree in a relevant discipline e.g. Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or Electrical. Or equivalent education or experience.
- A broad appreciation of process, packaging, control, services and infrastructure in a relevant FMCG industry.
- Managing of capital projects and working within project teams.
- Software experience:
- Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel & Project
- AutoCAD
- Project management software
- ERP systems
- This is a full-time, office-based role located at our Bournville factory, Birmingham.
