Job Description


We’re looking for an Employment Counsel to join our growing Legal Team in London.

This role is a unique opportunity to build on your employment law experience, help deliver Wise’s mission of money without borders, grow as a lawyer in a global fast-paced listed company environment and help millions more people save money. 

Your mission:

  • Work closely with our People and Legal teams globally to provide strategic advice and lead on employment and employment law-related issues, including recruitment, payroll and tax, compensation and benefits, and people operations.

  • Draft and advise on employment-related agreements and policies globally, such as employment agreements and offer letters, severance agreements, confidentiality agreements and codes of conduct.

  • Advise, partner and liaise with various internal stakeholders to develop and lead on processes for common employee-related issues, and drive other employment-related projects and initiatives.

  • Work closely with the Employee Relations team on any contentious employment matters, and advise on risk levels, mitigation and response. 

  • Report to Head of Legal, Disputes (hard line) and Global Employee Relations Lead (dotted line). 


Qualifications

  • UK-qualified employment lawyer with 4 to 6 years PQE.

  • Ability to navigate difficult issues and multiple stakeholders, advising the business on key benefits and risks, and developing solutions.

  • Ability to juggle multiple matters at once across different jurisdictions.

  • Ability to communicate legal advice in a succinct and pragmatic way to different areas of the business.

  • Have a get-it-done, collaborative approach to problem solving.
