Employee Relations Lead (People Lead) | London – Hybrid (minimum 50% office-based) | Salary: £80,000–£90,000 depending on experience
Ready to take on a varied People role that combines employee relations with broader involvement across policies, projects and people initiatives?
At Projective Group, we partner with financial services organisations to help them navigate complex change. Our expertise spans payments, data, transformation and risk across consulting, strategy and managed services.
Founded in Belgium in 2006, Projective Group now has more than 1,000 colleagues across Europe, including around 200 in the UK. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Employee Relations specialist to join our People team.
The opportunity
This role sits within our UK People function, providing guidance on employee relations and employment law matters. Alongside this, you will contribute to the ongoing development of our wider people practices.
You will act as a trusted point of contact for employee relations, supporting managers across the business and helping ensure decisions are fair, pragmatic and aligned with both employment law and our company values.
This is a genuinely varied, hands-on role. While employee relations will be a core focus, you will also be involved in policy development, people governance and wider People team initiatives. You will contribute to projects and continuous improvement activity across the function, supporting how we operate as the business continues to grow.
You will work closely with stakeholders across the business, including senior leaders and the UK COO, and collaborate with colleagues across recruitment, people development and people operations.
What you will be doing
Employee Relations
Acting as a key point of contact for employee relations and employment law matters.
Advising managers on a range of people issues, balancing legal risk, precedent and business needs.
Managing employee relations cases from initial discussion through to resolution, including more sensitive or complex situations where required.
Supporting preparation for formal processes where needed, including working with external legal counsel where appropriate.
Policy, Governance and Projects
Strengthening the development and continuous improvement of HR policies and people processes.
Ensuring policies remain aligned with current and emerging employment legislation.
Contributing to governance activity and external assessments, including EcoVadis.
Getting involved in wider People team projects and initiatives, supporting the ongoing evolution of how we operate as a function.
People Team Collaboration
Working with stakeholders across the UK business, including senior leaders and the UK COO.
Collaborating with the wider People team across recruitment, development and operations.
Supporting consistency in how people processes are applied across the business.
Contributing to broader initiatives such as wellbeing, DEI and people development.
Taking a hands-on approach across the employee lifecycle where needed, including onboarding, offboarding and general people support.
Is this you?
You are a pragmatic and approachable employee relations professional who enjoys being hands-on and working closely on the detail.
You are comfortable advising stakeholders, managing ER cases, and applying sound judgement, while also being open to involvement in broader People activities, including policy development, projects, and team initiatives.
You will likely have:
Solid hands-on experience in employee relations, gained across several years in HR roles.
A strong understanding of UK employment law and confidence in managing ER processes such as grievance, disciplinary, TUPE and settlement discussions.
Experience working in a consultancy, professional services or other fast-paced environment, or a similarly dynamic organisation.
Experience or exposure to HR policies, governance and process improvement.
The ability to build relationships and provide clear, pragmatic advice to stakeholders.
An interest in contributing beyond ER, including supporting projects and wider People team initiatives.
CIPD Level 5 or above (or equivalent experience).
This is an ideal role for someone who wants to move beyond a purely ER-focused position and take on a broader remit across the People function, while still staying close to day-to-day employee relations.
