Team/Role Overview

The VP Employee Relations (ER) Lead investigator is an experienced employee relations practitioner and investigator, applying technical expertise, analytical abilities and interpersonal skills to investigate and address material workplace issues within Citi’s businesses and functions across multiple geographies.  

What you’ll do

  • Investigate HR related concerns raised through the Ethics Office and other channels (such as formal grievances), primarily relating to allegations of discrimination, harassment and retaliation.
  • Responsible for the end-to-end investigative process, including planning, interviews, e-discovery, documentation review and report writing.
  • Summarise findings of investigations in Reports of Investigation and grievance outcome letters that are accurate, clearly written, and thorough.
  • Determine appropriate resolution of all allegations and findings, including assessing severity of substantiated findings in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Communicate findings as appropriate to management (including senior management), HR, and reporting parties across the franchise.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders including HR Business Partners, Legal HR, Compliance, Citi Security and Investigative Services.
  • Effectively manage a varied and challenging caseload of investigations to meet expected timeframes for completion.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc updates on the status and trending outcome of investigations to management and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in Disciplinary Review Panels and disciplinary hearings, providing summaries of investigations and guidance to Panels to ensure consistent determination of disciplinary action.
  • Draft disciplinary outcome letters which clearly articulate disciplinary decisions and their rationale.
  • Appropriately assess risk, demonstrating consideration for Citi's reputation and safeguarding the company, including applying sound ethical judgment, escalating, managing and reporting issues timely and appropriately.

What we’ll need from you

  • Relevant experience, with a focus in Human Resources and/or Employee Relations investigations required.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end investigation processes and protocols
  • Knowledge of employment policies, practices, and employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Self-motivated and with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Consistent demonstration of ownership and accountability (driven to “do the right thing”).
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative, intense environment, and across multiple time zones.
  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience.
