Employee Relations Advisor

Location: Leeds LS12 6AB

The Role

As our Employee Relations Advisor, you'll act as a trusted specialist, providing expert guidance and end-to-end case management across a broad range of employee relations matters. You'll work closely with managers and stakeholders across the business, helping them navigate challenging people issues while ensuring consistency, fairness and legal compliance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing employee relations cases from initial consultation through to resolution.
  • Providing expert advice on disciplinary, grievance, conduct, capability and absence management matters.
  • Advising managers on People policies, procedures and UK employment legislation.
  • Supporting family leave and flexible working cases, ensuring a positive employee experience and legal compliance.
  • Conducting and overseeing investigations, hearings and appeals where required.
  • Coaching, influencing and constructively challenging managers to promote best practice people management.
  • Identifying trends and opportunities to improve policies, processes and manager capability.
  • Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring compliance with data protection requirements.

About You

Essential

  • Significant experience in an Employee Relations or HR Advisory role with a strong ER focus.
  • Proven experience managing disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence cases from start to finish.
  • Strong practical knowledge of UK employment law and its application within the workplace.
  • Excellent coaching, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong investigation, analytical and decision-making capability.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high levels of professionalism under pressure.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Experience supporting frontline or blue-collar workforces.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or currently working towards it.
