We are looking for a curious-minded and passionate Embedded Software Engineer to join our team.


Required

  • 5+ years' experience of C software development in an embedded environment
  • Proven ability to work autonomously from task specification through to completion with minimal supervision
  • Experience developing low level software on microcontrollers e.g. STM32, NXP LPC, NXP i.MX/i.MX RT, Renesas
  • Experience developing code for systems based on an RTOS (FreeRTOS, Thread X, etc)
  • An understanding of Digital Electronics and how to interface hardware with firmware
  • Strong commitment to code quality: well-structured and well-commented modular approach.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks and methodologies for embedded systems
  • Experience of analogue to digital signal sampling and processing techniques
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of the software development lifecycle from concept to production, and into maintenance
  • Good university degree (or equivalent), ideally in computer science or electronic engineering, although other graduates would be considered if you have relevant experience

Desirable

  • Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices
  • Experience with CMake build system
  • Experience of C++ in an embedded environment
  • Experience of building test harness applications using Python
  • Familiar with writing manual and automated test cases
  • Experience in low level interfaces, particularly CAN
  • Working experience in wireless communications, particularly for HTTPS and WebSockets over cellular and WiFi
  • Familiar with Agile principles and best practices such as peer review, pair programming etc
  • Experience with code optimization techniques for embedded systems

What you'll do:

  • Design, Code and Test firmware for embedded systems
  • Contribute to the improvement of the structure and design of the codebase for future scalability
  • Maintain released products.
  • Provide third-level support. Debug and identify root-causes with a variety of hardware and firmware issues
  • Build and maintain an automated testing harness for embedded system devices
  • Create and execute manual and automated test cases using Ohme’s test case management system
