Who we are looking for

As part of Global Market's ambitious three-year eFX expansion strategy, we have several exciting new positions. This London-based front-office trading floor role requires a talented java guru to join the eFX quant trading team and engage in multiple aspects of our trading business, covering a range of FX instruments such as spot, NDF’s and swaps.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

The team you will be joining is a part of State Street Global Markets (SSGM). When owners and managers of institutional assets need research, trading, securities lending and innovative portfolio strategies, they turn to SSGM business unit. As our investment research and trading arm, SSGM’s number one goal is to enhance and preserve our clients’ portfolio values by applying technology, optimizing trading, and linking asset classes and markets across the world.

What you will be responsible for

As an eFX Quantitative Developer you will:

  • Strategically develop and enhance eFX’s bespoke java-based high-performance data and quantitative research infrastructure

  • Develop models to progress the bank’s real-time eFX products in areas such as price generation, risk management, benchmark execution and alpha generation

  • Represent quant trading priorities when collaborating with dev and infrastructure teams

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role

  • Experience developing low latency trading systems or similar

  • Extensive java experience, with a deep knowledge of all areas relevant to realtime trading

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Required: degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics  or Mathematics

  • A post-graduate degree in a quantitative discipline would be a benefit

Additional requirements

  • Pragmatic mindset - research should be targeted at solving business problems and improving profitability

  • Excellent communication skills are required to build relationships with key staff in technology, Sales, Trading and Management

  • Experience in quantitative research, modelling, statistics and machine learning / AI is a bonus

  • Experience with Javascript, React, and Python is a plus
