Business Insider is hiring an editor to join the UK bureau and work on stories from across the newsroom. This role is a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

The Role & Team

Business Insider is looking for an editor to help assign and edit stories in the UK. The editor will work with all teams in the newsroom and edit stories on a wide range of topics, including business and tech coverage, the war in Ukraine, and US politics. The editor should be comfortable handling a mixture of edits, spanning investigations, analysis, features, and breaking news. They are a team player who is excited about working in an inclusive environment and dedicated to getting better every day.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assign and edit stories on a range of topics and a variety of formats from desks across the UK newsroom
  • Help shape the biggest business, tech, and general news stories of the day for our readers
  • Ensure stories adhere to Business Insider’s journalistic standards
  • Mentor and coach reporters and fellows during the editing process
  • Support homepage operations as required


The Ideal Candidate Has

  • Experience editing business and news stories in a digital newsroom 
  • Knowledge of SEO, analytics, and photos
  • Experience working on news, scoops, analysis, and features
  • A self-starter attitude and excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and time zones.
