Job Description:

   

We are seeking a senior technologist to join our Security Lab in HPE Labs. The Security Lab researches and develops foundational security capabilities for HPE products and services in collaboration with our business units, supply chain, partners and the open-source community. Our current projects include platform integrity and security,  confidential computing, post-quantum cryptography, security of AI and applications of AI to security. This an opportunity to define a research agenda and take the lead on research projects with the objective of building advanced security capabilities for HPE products and customers.

The ideal candidate will thrive on leading research into new innovative ways to solve problems. They will be skilled at leading the design of systems and solutions with colleagues and owning the implementation of significant components. They will have good implementation skills and enjoy building robust product-ready prototypes to test and demonstrate their ideas.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 15+ years of experience as a technical leader, ideally at the intersection of security and cloud, HPC, or data center technologies
  • Proven track record of leading R&D initiatives and driving innovation into product roadmaps
  • Previous work experience contributing to opensource projects, industry standards, or other technical organizations

Skills:

  • System security techniques and principles
  • Knowledge of the following: computer architecture, operating systems, networking, application of AI to security or security of AI
  • Implementation skills with experience in one or more of the following: Python, Rust, C, Go
  • Not required but nice to have: Experience with System Software / Firmware (Kernel, Drivers, Firmware, UEFI) 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English
  • An analytical and innovative approach to problem-solving
  • Technical leadership skills

What you’ll do:

  • Innovate from the bleeding-edge of research all the way to implementation and widespread release
  • Present to both technical and non-technical audiences, from technologists to customers and executives
  • Collaborate and work with a team of innovators and forward-thinkers
  • Drive projects from the research and inception stage to design and proof-of-concept, all the way to implementation and uptake by other teams
  • Identify new technologies and opportunities, decide on research direction, and stay up to date on advances in the state of the art
  • Opportunity to work with standards bodies and open-source communities

The expected salary/wage range for this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level.
– United States of America: Annual Salary USD 169,000 - 338,000 in Colorado // 183,000 - 389,500 in California
The listed salary range reflects base salary. Variable incentives may also be offered.
