Reporting directly to the CIO, the Director of Technology - Operations is accountable for the strategic direction, architecture and delivery of all technology change within the Operations domain. The role acts as the primary point of contact between one or multiple business functions and the technology teams. It is in charge of facilitating Technology initiatives, managing product and application portfolios, and ensuring the effective delivery of technology solutions aligned with business objectives. This role is a key member of our customer's senior management team and requires a strategic thinker with solid management skills and a keen business acumen. The ability to navigate a complex, global, working environment is essential.

Please note that candidates are expected to work from our customer's London office three times per week.

Required skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Significant experience in senior technology management within complex, global organisations
  • Proven ability to define and deliver technology strategy and roadmaps aligned to business objectives
  • Robust track record of leading multi-disciplinary technology teams and spearheading successful delivery of complex change programmes
  • Solid knowledge of enterprise architecture, solution delivery and cyber security standards
  • Demonstrable expertise in stakeholder management and vendor management at a senior level
  • Commercial acumen with experience managing technology budgets and optimising ROI
  • Exemplary management, communication and influencing skills with credibility at the executive level
  • Degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience)

Key responsibilities & duties include:

  • Manage the day-to-day involvement between the business functions and the IT and Digital department and be an active member of the Operations management team
  • Develop and implement the technology strategy and roadmap for the Operations area in line with broader business and IT strategies
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and address technology needs and opportunities
  • Ensure all requirements for technology changes within Operations are captured, and appropriate capacity plans are in place to meet demand
  • Manage and lead a team of technology professionals, including domain architects, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Solution Architects and Product Team members, providing guidance and support
  • Take full accountability for the management and successful delivery of all technology solutions within the business domain through either project or product delivery teams to agreed time, cost and quality criteria
  • Ensure the security and integrity of all technology solution deployments in line with our customer's Cyber standards
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in technology to drive innovation
  • Manage technology budgets and project finances
  • Establish and enforce technology policies and procedures to ensure compliance and data protection
  • Own, manage and drive value from all associated technology vendors critical to the delivery and ongoing maintenance of IT solutions, managing relationships and performance of third-party providers to optimise service delivery
  • Increase Return on Investment (ROI) through standardised processes, effective sourcing models and management of risk, leading to increased pace and quality of project completion and better ROI
