Job Description

The seller side of the payments ecosystem is becoming increasingly complex and as payments and customer needs evolve Visa needs to be closer, more than ever, to these important partners in the ecosystem. We need to integrate deeper into our key customers, supporting their ambitions and to advance the integration of our products and services, in addition to growing our core business revenues through capturing more transactions on Visa credentials. To better align against this vision, we are moving to a more verticalized merchant management model for our large Global and Pan-European merchants in Europe.

The streaming and content merchants continue to be so influential in the ecosystem and accordingly we are seeking a strong Director candidate to lead this important vertical. Whilst initially focused on the established merchants we fully intend to build out the remit and coverage model for this vertical.

The successful candidate will report to the VP Merchant Partnership Development and part of the Merchant Partnership leadership team. She/ He will be the single point of customer contact and own the client relationship within Europe (end to end), and will work to structure and negotiate commercial constructs, proactively source new opportunities, and drive account and market planning. A fey focus will be maintaining and growing Visa volume with two of the largest streaming customers.

The ideal candidate will bring passion for and interest in payments, client-facing skills and presence, and knowledge of merchant strategies and priorities and will enjoy creative problem solving, working collaboratively across functions, and have an entrepreneurial mindset.

The details:

  • You will lead senior level merchant relationships, managing the ongoing needs of the merchant and provide guidance to internal teams to ensure the highest quality customer service on all matters ranging from strategic to executional; Have a pro-active, solutions-oriented mindset will be a distinct advantage.
  • You will be driving positive merchant outcomes. Consultatively identifying and prioritizing merchant needs and crafting multi-faceted solutions that grow the merchants’ business and increase merchant satisfaction with Visa products/services.
  • You will identify and quantify merchant investments. You will identify merchant investment & partnership opportunities that will jointly benefit merchants and Visa, develop appropriate business cases and forecasts, advocate for funding, track performance/return of invested funds, and use learnings to inform future investments. Gain alignment & merchant buy-in.
  • You will establish strong internal partnerships. Establish fluency in all Visa merchant-facing solutions. Collaboratively define responsibilities for various merchant outcomes with internal partners. Articulate merchant needs and influence product/capability road maps by leveraging merchant feedback, endeavoring to work together as “One Visa”
  • Everyone is a leader at Visa, and you will be building on team’s analytical skills and business knowledge, sharing your subject matter expertise and acting in a mentorship capacity across the broader Merchant Team

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across functions and geographies in a complex matrix environment
  • Experience working (virtually or in person) in a variety of markets across Europe – across region is a further advantage
  • Proven track record in developing client relationships and sales partnerships
  • Experience in cards and payments; A passion for Fintech, and in particular payments
  • Very strong commercial mindset, ability to think beyond the obvious
  • Experience in working in a global organization
  • Strong external sales/business development background
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Well-rounded experience and exposure to a variety of functional teams, i.e., sales, innovation, analytics, digital, marketing, etc… 
  • Ability to prioritize across a broad set of responsibilities and partners
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with high level of success/achievement
  • Proactive / self-starting; willing to take on new challenges and responsibilities
  • Ability to influence teams even if no direct reporting relationship
  • Detail-oriented and flexible
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong foundation in MS Office programs (especially advanced Excel and PowerPoint)
