Title and Summary

Director, Sponsorships - McLaren

Overview:
The Sponsorships team at Mastercard manages a portfolio of properties that capitalize on consumer passion to influence behavior and drive profitability for Mastercard and its issuing bank and merchant partners. By associating with and leveraging leading properties, personalities, and events, Mastercard offers cardholders access to ‘priceless' experiences, building brand preference, driving acquisition, and increasing card usage.
Reporting into the Global Sponsorships VP and working with cross-functional teams as well as outside marketing agencies, you will drive competitive advantage for the brand and the business by maximizing our McLaren F1 Team sponsorship and creating value for our customers, partners, and consumers.
Responsibilities include strategy development, event execution, reporting, asset management, budget management, managing relationships with internal stakeholders, and securing legal, compliance, marketing, and brand approvals. You will also manage integrations with Mastercard’s wider Sports & Entertainment properties.
Role:
Partnership lead for all at track delivery, including:
- Management of race ticket allocations purchased by markets for B2B / B2B2B purposes and ensuring end-to-end delivery of all aspects of the package to the satisfaction of stakeholders including customers.
- Delivery of all contractual brand touch points (including logos and multi-sensory) at track, inclusive of team, car, infrastructure and facilities.
- Delivery of driver / exec appearances across race weekend activation.
- On site management of any local market media / influencer activation including content capture to ensure compliance with F1 regulations.
- Managing our compliance tools such as TicketManager and Vivo to ensure adherence to all regulatory, data privacy, legal, ethics, and other codes of compliance.
- Management of external agency to facilitate delivery of above.
Act as global sponsorship day to day lead to work collaboratively with local and regional B2B leads to facilitate pass through discussions on a local and regional level, supporting with:
- Package creation and valuation.
- Management of contractual approvals process for issuers and merchants.
- Tracking of assets to avoid duplication across proposals.
Working collaboratively as part of the wider global sponsorships team to facilitate flawless management and execution of wider McLaren sponsorship assets – events, physical & digital experiences – working closely with regional and local Mastercard teams and agencies, delivering against set objectives to include:
- Supporting with creation and execution of global partnership creative and social campaigns.
- Activation of contractual assets at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking.
- Use of McLaren experiential assets and experiences by global and local markets.
- Packaging and execution of exclusive Mastercard assets across priceless.com platform.
- Updating asset lists and requirements in customer-facing tools such as the marketing portal that our customers access.
- Assisting legal with the paperwork associated with onboarding new assets, ambassadors, influencers, etc.
- Accounting for monetization of sponsorship assets, ensuring accurate measurement and reporting.
- Management of merchandise requests that come from the markets, such as signed memorabilia.
- Maintaining budgetary responsibilities for sponsorship-related marketing programs, leading tracking and recommending corrective action.
- Reporting regularly on campaign performance measurement and evaluation, recommending ways to leverage past success and apply to future programs.
- Using a deep understanding of category and ecosystem relationships to advise on how insights can or should be applied.
- Providing direction and coordinating deliverables with agency partners.
All About You:
- Minimum 5 years working within the Formula 1 ecosystem (agency / rights holder).
- Significant experience and connection to the Sports & Entertainment industry, working with numerous stakeholders from teams, properties, and/or talent management.
- Strong experience in working across cross-functional teams inclusive of brand, legal, digital, media, communications, compliance, product, and philanthropy.
- Experience in managing cross-functional agency teams.
- Enjoy collaboration, across internal constituents and agency teams.
- Experience in emerging technology, digital, social media, and mobile marketing a plus.
- Appreciation of all elements of the marketing mix, working with various integrated marketing communications teams to develop sponsorship-driven programming.
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and payment processing.
- Creative thinker – ability to harness elements of passion-based assets and access to develop innovative marketing platforms.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Monitored project budgets successfully and demonstrated understanding of cost drivers.
- Ability / willingness to travel to events.
