As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Risk Technology organisation, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.
Risk Technology is undergoing a multi-year transformation journey to modernize & migrate its Data and AI capabilities to the public cloud. The Data team within our Risk Engineering and Architecture organisation is committed to build a large ecosystem of data products, hundreds of petabytes of data and thousands of analytics users. The objective of our team is to drive business impact , insights, personalized experience and maximize the value of AI. To support our team's mission, Risk Technology has established teams across Bangalore, Hyderabad, London, Glasgow, and New jersey.
Job responsibilities

  • Develops the Risk Data Architecture strategy and works across teams to drive its implementation
  • Advises cross-functional teams on technology selection to achieve target state architecture and decisions on improvements to current technologies
  • Develops multi-year roadmaps aligned with business and architecture strategy and priorities
  • Advises and leads on data architecture strategy and development of multiple products, applications, and technologies across a portfolio
  • Translates highly complex technical issues, trends, and approaches to leadership to drive the firm's innovation and enable leaders to make strategic, well-informed decisions about data architecture for the target state
  • Serves as the function's go-to subject matter expert
  • Drives firmwide adoption and implementation of data architecture specifications in technology solutions
  • Establishes and leads a data architecture governance body
  • Creates durable, reusable data frameworks leveraging new technology to meet the needs of the business
  • Mentors and coaches junior architects and technologists
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on system design concepts and expert applied experience. In addition, advanced experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
  • Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Expert in one or more data architecture disciplines, programming languages, and applications
  • Demonstrated prior experience influencing across functions and teams to deliver modern architecture
  • Ability to present and effectively communicate to Senior Leaders and Executives
  • Ability to quickly come up to speed on new technical and functional problem areas
  • Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine data solutions for complex architecture problems across various technical disciplines
  • Extensive practical cloud native experience
  • Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to recommend the best data architecture solutions or approach to achieve the future state architecture


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience working with large, globally diverse organisations
  • Experience working in finance or another highly regulated industry
  • Experience with large interconnected systems and grid compute platforms
  • Experience with Market, Credit or Liquidity Risk functions
