The Director of Sales for New Business will drive business development in the UK public sector, manage strategic sales initiatives, close new orders for SaaS and professional services, and promote the company's presence through marketing activities. This role involves collaboration across various teams, regular reporting on sales forecasts, and maintaining relationships with key customers and leads.
Role responsibilities
- Business Development – navigate commercial operations/structures in large organisations and identify new leads and nurture existing contacts. Using market information and networking to inform your approach. Primarily in the UK public sector (excluding Defence and Security), and also supporting wider opportunities.
- Strategic Direction – Managing key sales strategies in line with the company’s strategic direction to grow business in this sector, and to actively seek intelligence to inform the businesses strategic plans and to devise experiments that will drive opportunities.
- Closing – new orders from new names in the identified market for both SaaS and professional services, to meet or exceed the sales targets.
- Connecting - attending customer sites to deliver meetings, presentations and demonstrations and to meet with customers and new leads.
- Promotion – of Commerce Decisions through marketing activity, such as trade shows, customer site visits, webinars, workshops and through social media activity, aligned to our market messaging. Ensuring engagement with people at the right level in our target organisations
- Collaboration – with our wider teams/experts in sales, marketing, professional services, customer success, R&D and finance to ensure that each opportunity receives the appropriate attention and care, that market intelligence is shared, and to ensure effective transition from pre- to post-sales project phases, including alignment of customer payment obligations.
- Reporting – regular reporting and record keeping on sales forecast both on bookings and on revenue, strategic direction and experiments within sales, the senior leadership team and in corporate (Harris) forums.
