About the role
Hybrid

This is not just another product leadership role. This is your chance to shape the engine room of Skyscanner.

As our Director, Product Management – Travel Platform, you’ll define the strategy for the tribe that powers the very core of our meta-search capabilities: search results, geographic systems, and pricing insights. In other words, the foundational tech that helps millions of travellers compare options in seconds — not hours.

You’ll lead a talented team of Product Managers across six squads, partnering closely with Engineering and business stakeholders to build reusable, scalable capabilities that unlock speed, innovation and impact across the entire company.

This role calls for sharp strategic thinking, deep technical fluency, calm prioritisation under pressure, and the ability to bring people with you — from engineers to executives.

You can be based in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London or Barcelona, where we adopt a hybrid working policy of working in the office twice a week.

What you’ll be doing

  • Defining the Travel Platform strategy: You’ll set and evolve a clear vision for the tribe, aligning platform investments with Skyscanner’s broader product and business goals.
  • Balancing today and tomorrow: You’ll make smart trade-offs between immediate commercial priorities and long-term platform scalability and health.
  • Leading and empowering PMs: You’ll coach and develop a team of Product Managers across six squads, enabling confident decision-making and strong product craft.
  • Partnering across the business: You’ll collaborate closely with Engineering and other tribes to identify their most pressing needs and translate them into scalable platform capabilities.
  • Driving measurable impact: You’ll ensure platform investments deliver tangible business and traveller value — improving search quality, pricing intelligence and geographic precision.
  • Championing quality and performance: You’ll work hand-in-hand with Engineering to monitor, measure and continuously improve reliability, scalability and performance.

About you

  • Experienced platform product leader: You’ve owned strategy for shared technologies or platform-layer products in fast-paced, product-led environments.
  • Visionary and pragmatic: You can define a compelling roadmap while making confident, data-driven trade-offs across business value, feasibility and resources.
  • Technically fluent: You’re comfortable discussing APIs, system architecture, data models and performance metrics with engineering leaders.
  • Stakeholder-savvy: You’ve successfully aligned diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders around a clear direction.
  • People-first leader: You’re passionate about building and developing high-performing product teams.
  • Impact-focused: You have a proven track record of delivering platform products that drive measurable business outcomes.
