Job DescriptionAt Rome2Rio and Omio, we’re now at the beginning of a bold new chapter: launching a premium advertising business that connects our global audience with the world’s top travel and tourism brands.
We’re hiring our Director of Advertising Product to play a critical role in building the next chapter of monetisation. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll be a key member of the leadership team—shaping strategy, scaling our ad product portfolio, and unlocking new commercial opportunities that connect travellers with the right partners.

You’ll collaborate closely with peers across product, engineering, sales, data, marketing, and design to deliver advertising solutions that create long-term value for both users and industry partners. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Product Leadership
- Define and drive the vision, roadmap, and performance of our advertising and monetisation product suite.
- Contribute to company-wide strategic planning and help shape the commercial direction of Rome2Rio.
- Partner with the Head of Consumer Product to build a cohesive, user-centric product strategy across both consumer and commercial experiences.
- Develop scalable ad solutions that serve the needs of both travellers and advertisers — from native placements to sponsored integrations and beyond.
Ad Product Scope
As Director of Advertising Product, you’ll oversee the strategy and development of a range of advertising solutions, including:
- Sponsored Listings – Promote travel operators and partners directly within user search results.
- Display Advertising – Drive performance and awareness through programmatic and direct-sold display campaigns.
- Targeting & Audience Segmentation – Leverage first-party travel intent data to deliver relevant experiences for advertisers and users.
- Ad Platform Tooling – Develop scalable internal tools, campaign management systems, and reporting dashboards to support commercial operations.
- Measurement & Attribution – Define frameworks for campaign success and work with Data and Engineering teams to build transparent reporting.
- Privacy-First Monetisation – Ensure compliance and innovation as the advertising landscape shifts away from third-party cookies.
Product Management & Execution
- Oversee the product management of all advertising and monetisation initiatives.
- Bring strong domain expertise to inform product design, prioritisation, and go-to-market strategies.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to evaluate product impact, revenue performance, and user experience outcomes.
- Balance short-term monetisation wins with long-term strategic value creation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Commercial, and external partners to align product initiatives with market demand and revenue opportunities.
- Collaborate with Consumer Product and Engineering to ensure seamless integration of advertising across the user journey.
- Act as a key partner to internal stakeholders, helping prioritise and deliver impactful features, campaigns, and platform improvements.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing Product Managers.
- Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, feedback, and innovation.
- Champion a strong product craft and ensure clear development pathways for your team.
- Support performance reviews and professional development across the team.
Decision-Making & Innovation
- Identify and evaluate new monetisation opportunities based on market trends, user behaviour, and data insights.
- Make sound decisions using a mix of qualitative and quantitative reasoning.
- Anticipate challenges and proactively develop strategies to address them.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure ad products meet high standards of reliability, usability, and scalability.
- Stay ahead of industry regulations and ensure compliance with privacy, data, and ad tech best practices.
8+ years in product leadership roles, with a strong focus on advertising or monetisation products within transactional consumer environments—ideally in a mix of travel, e-commerce, and marketplaces.
We're looking for someone who deeply understands e-commerce-style user journeys, where monetisation is closely tied to discovery, intent, and conversion—not just engagement. Experience in pure-play adtech or media is less relevant unless paired with direct experience owning monetisation within a transactional product context.
- Deep understanding of ad tech, monetisation models, and the programmatic ecosystem.
- Strategic thinking with a bias for action and results.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and partnering with Sales or Commercial functions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Passion for solving complex problems in user-centric ways.
