Role description:

This is a key leadership role to sustain and grow our market offer and support clients across the full spectrum of P&SC best practice, achieving ambitious outcomes and benefits for their businesses and stakeholders.

The Director will grow capacity and capability within the UK CoP, to meet client demand and offer stretching and rewarding career paths to highly talented P&SC professionals at all levels of experience. They will also play a key role in co-ordinating and developing our wider P&SC community, across the Arcadis global business.

The role will require collaboration with other senior leaders in our business to create, sell and deliver market-leading advisory solutions with procurement, supply chain and commercial insight at their heart.  It will bring thought leadership to our business and our clients, and inspire and motivate our people while supporting their well-being and welfare : making Business Advisory an exciting and rewarding place to be.

Role Accountabilities

Community Leadership & Development

  • Develop and execute a vision and strategy for the UK P&SC CoP, aligned with business priorities and the Global Advisory strategy. Act as a ‘lighthouse’ for Global P&SC development by showcasing and implementing best practice in the UK.
  • Lead, manage, develop and inspire a talented group of P&SC professionals. Grow the existing team from c.20 to 40+ advisory professionals over the next three years.
  • Champion the CoP’s purpose, objectives and value across the organisation.
  • Facilitate regular UK and global community meetings, workshops and knowledge-sharing events.

Client and Market Impact

  • Win and lead high-profile pursuits and commissions with clients across sectors to drive successful outcomes.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with a network of clients, up to CPO and Board levels.
  • Engage with market directors, capability directors, sector leads, technical experts and project teams to maximise the breadth and quality of advisory solutions and their market and client impact. Embed both digital enablement and people-centricity across our P&SC advisory commissions and solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert across a wider portfolio of pursuits and commissions.

Knowledge Management

  • Curate, develop and maintain best practice resources, tools and market insights in procurement, supply chain and commercial.
  • Lead the sharing of P&SC lessons learned, project insights and technical innovations across Arcadis, in the UK and globally.

Capability & Professional Development

  • Facilitate training, mentoring and development initiatives linked to the P&SC professional discipline, both for our own people and for our clients.
  • Promote external engagement through partnerships with industry bodies, academia and professional networks.
  • Act as an industry thought leader through publications and speaking engagements.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Translate P&SC skills and best practice into innovative client-facing solutions that address clients' most pressing and complex business opportunities and market challenges, and deliver demonstrable business benefits across the supply chain lifecycle.
  • Drive development and adoption of new methods, digital tools and innovative approaches across the CoP.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in advisory services, client-side leadership and/or consultancy, with a passion for knowledge management, professional development and collaboration.
  • A recognised leader with proven expertise across Procurement, Supply Chain and Commercial disciplines, in infrastructure and the built environment, and in at least one target sector (i.e. energy, water, transport, manufacturing & technology, or property/real estate).
  • Experience of managing business relationships up to Board level.
  • Significant experience of procurement in a regulated context (PCR, UCR etc.) is also desirable.
  • Outstanding leadership, facilitation and communication skills.
  • An inspiring, industry-recognised thought leader in procurement, supply chain and commercial best practice.
  • A senior, relevant client network (CPO-level and equivalent).
  • Proven commercial and business management skills, and an appetite and aptitude for sales and business development.
  • Knowledge and experience of digital solutions and technology enablement in the field.
  • Ability to engage, motivate and influence diverse groups.
  • Organised, proactive and able to drive initiatives from concept to delivery.
  • Collaborative approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Likely to be a member of CIPS, RICS and/or another relevant professional institution.
