About Darkroom

Darkroom is the next-generation growth marketing firm engineering the brands of tomorrow. We fuse human creativity with Matter, our proprietary AI commerce layer, to deliver category-defining creative and measurable performance for some of the most innovative consumer companies.

We’ve driven billions in attributable revenue, earned recognition on the Inc. 5000, and our founders have been named to Forbes 30 Under 30 for advancing the future of AI, creativity, and advertising.

About the Role

Darkroom is hiring a Director of People (Talent Acquisition) to build and lead a high-performance recruiting organization. This is not an HR generalist role — it is a mission-critical leadership position responsible for architecting an internal recruiting engine that operates with the rigor, speed, and quality of a top-tier executive search firm.

You will manage a team of 3–4 Recruiters and partner closely with our VP, Creative Operations (Darragh Rose) to deliver a predictable, high-quality recruiting function that fuels Darkroom’s rapid scaling. You’ll own a 20–30 role pipeline at any given time, lead searches for senior-level positions directly, and elevate Darkroom’s internal talent bar across all departments.

We are looking for someone who is hungry, driven, resourceful, highly organized, and deeply motivated to build something exceptional inside a world-class creative and AI-powered company.

What You’ll DoRecruiting Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of recruiters and a People Ops partner

  • Build and enforce daily/weekly recruiting operating rhythms

  • Ensure high-speed, high-quality execution across all open roles

High-Impact Hiring
  • Personally headhunt senior leadership roles — no outsourcing required

  • Build proactive pipelines across creative, media, strategy, digital, ops, and executive functions

  • Represent Darkroom with excellence when speaking to senior-level candidates

Operational Excellence
  • Build systems, processes, scorecards, and reporting that make recruiting predictable

  • Track pipeline health meticulously and maintain exceptional organization

  • Partner with VP, Creative Operations on workforce planning and prioritization

Strategic Partnership
  • Work cross-functionally with department heads to understand team needs

  • Align sourcing and recruiting resources with agency scaling priorities

  • Provide insights to senior leadership regarding hiring performance and candidate quality

Who You Are
  • 5+ years in high-volume recruiting (agency, startup, or executive search)

  • Proven experience managing or leading recruiters

  • Strong headhunting ability; able to fill senior U.S.-based roles

  • Exceptionally organized and systems-driven

  • Outstanding communication skills — near-native English required

  • High-energy, motivated, accountable, and proactive

  • Based in Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Brazil, or the UK

  • Able to work EST hours and travel to NYC as needed

You’ll Thrive Here If You Are:
  • Hungry and ambitious with a builder’s mindset

  • Highly accountable and fast-paced

  • Obsessed with delivering results, not just process

  • Excited to help shape the talent engine behind one of the most innovative creative-performance organizations
