The responsibilities

  • Design and execute an acquisition strategy as laid out above, structuring and organising their team around this.

  • Will own the partner acquisition revenue and new business target for UK&I and allocate targets proportionately across the team. The SD will manage the performance of the acquisition team to ensure delivery of the company objective(s).

  • Will build and execute the ISV acquisition strategy for the UK&I, aligned to focus verticals and company capabilities. The recruitment of, and revenue generation, from ISV partnerships is a key business objective for 2026 and this role plays a critical part in this.

  • Linked to the above, will work closely with the UK&I and international product teams to implement solutions which enable the recruitment of key target ISVs.

  • Will maintain frameworks governing the commercial proposals available to the team for winning new business. Commercial creativity is encouraged and the SD will be required to ensure the frameworks position Global Payments competitively in the UK&I market.

  • Playing a leading role in closing tier 1 opportunities is a core part of the role with the Director expected to engage directly with larger opportunities and play a proactive role in discovery, agreement and execution.

  • The partner acquisition team is part of the broader partnership business ecosystem, and part of the broader UK&I commercial team. The building of effective relationships across the business is essential for success.

The person:

  • The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the UK&I payments market and its associated opportunities, challenges, risks, parties and business models.

  • Strong commerciality is essential - the understanding of commercial models within payments including the revenues, costs and margins involved. A good knowledge of pricing within payments is necessary.

  • Inspiring leadership is a core component of the role. Global Payments is made up of colleagues from a number of organisations which have come together through M&A. Aligning and inspiring a team around one mission and brand is key. The ability to nurture over-performance and address under-performance in a confident and motivational manner is necessary.

  • The ideal candidate will have a good level of knowledge of payment solutions and products, emerging solutions in market, those offered by competitors and, most importantly, the needs of customers in market.

  • A specific understanding of the UK&I ISV market is highly desirable.

  • Effective communication through business and performance updates, formal reports to senior leadership and impactful presentations is expected from the role..

Minimum requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years experience within sales or new business generation, with at least 5 of those in a leadership position is essential.

  • A minimum of 5 years specifically within the payments industry is required.
