About the Director of Operations
Manhattan Strategies is seeking a Director of Operations to serve as the firm’s senior operational lead, responsible for overall workflow, work operations and internal execution across the business.
This role is intended for a highly reliable, trusted operator with strong judgment and experience working in fast-growing organizations. The Director of Operations will work closely with senior leadership and team leads to ensure the firm operates smoothly, consistently and with discipline as it scales.
This role exists to make sure the firm’s internal operations keep pace with its growth.
The Director of Operations serves three core functions:
- Business Operations & Leadership Partnership (50%): The Director of Operations will oversee firm-wide workflow and day-to-day operations, ensuring work moves efficiently and consistently across teams. They will serve as a trusted operational partner to senior leadership, translating priorities into execution. This role owns core business operations including invoicing workflows, payroll coordination, contracting, vendor management and administrative systems, and acts as a central point of integration across practice areas to identify and resolve operational risks or breakdowns.
- People Operations & Organizational Support (25%): The Director will support the firm’s people systems and organizational health, partnering closely with leadership and team leads on onboarding, role clarity, performance cycles and internal communication. While this role does not include direct people management, it plays a key role in enabling managers and teams by supporting workflow coordination and operational problem solving, reinforcing a culture of performance, integrity and pride.
- Process Design, Systems & Scale (25%): The Director will design, document and refine firm-wide processes, systems and workflows that allow Manhattan Strategies to scale without sacrificing quality or speed. This includes evaluating and improving internal tools related to operations and workflow management, simplifying handoffs, clarifying ownership and maximizing efficiency across teams to ensure the firm’s internal operations keep pace with its growth.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in operations, business management, or similar senior roles, preferably in a professional services, agency or consultancy environment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively without direct authority, earning trust through judgment and execution.
- Strong organizational skills and a track record of reliability and follow-through.
- Experience improving workflows, systems and operational processes in growing organizations.
- Comfort working closely with founders and senior leaders on sensitive and high-impact matters.
- Clear, direct communication style.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.

- Total compensation range: $151,000 - $169,000
