Brunswick Insight is the firm’s strategic research hub, helping to bring a more comprehensive view of the outside world to inform the advice Brunswick gives to its clients.

The team specialises in conducting qualitative and quantitative opinion research, as well as leveraging cutting-edge tools to analyse “passive” sources of insight such as news coverage, social media posts, search data, etc.

Insights generated inform client strategy, underpinning campaign and communication strategies, and providing key insights at business-critical moments, as well as the firm’s pursuit of new business opportunities and thought leadership.

The Insight team is made up of around 20 people globally with hubs in Brunswick’s London, New York and Washington DC offices. Members come from a wide variety of backgrounds including political polling, market research, journalism and digital start-ups.

About the Role

Brunswick Group is seeking an experienced Director to join its London team to deliver evidence-based advice to our global clients. This role covers a maternity leave. It will ideally start in March/April and run for at least one year.

The Director will focus on driving integrated insight projects that inform and evaluate strategies, as well as developing new business.

The Director will interact with many different parts of Brunswick Group, working across different industry sectors and on a range of different high-stakes issues. This person will also work closely with our AI Labs team to develop new offers and approaches.  

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working as a senior member of the Insight team to design and deliver research which informs advice to clients on critical issues
  • Understanding client objectives, and advising on the best research approaches to meet their needs
  • Designing and delivering bespoke opinion research, using quantitative, qualitative and synthetic approaches, across multiple markets and a variety of audiences
  • Providing advice to clients based on analysis of “passive” sources of insight such as news coverage, social media posts, search data, etc.
  • Presenting research findings and data-driven recommendations in an engaging and accessible way
  • Building close relationships with clients, as a trusted partner and advisor
  • Overseeing project teams, developing and mentoring more junior team members, both within Insight and across the firm
  • Promoting and supporting an evidence-driven culture within the firm
  • Developing new business opportunities with colleagues and successfully pitching for new business
  • Identifying and testing new tools and suppliers that might enrich our offer
  • Constantly seeking ways to develop our research and approach to provide the best possible advice and insight for clients and colleagues across the firm

What We’re Looking For
  • An expert in evidence-driven strategies and evaluation, with 15+ years’ experience
  • Agency experience, developing and using research as part of integrated campaigns
  • Cross-sector experience across these areas: financial services; energy & resources; pharmaceutical & healthcare; consumer goods; technology media & telecoms
  • Deep understanding and experience of research across: corporate reputation; message testing; crisis and corporate issues; corporate branding and positioning
  • Experienced in building and growing client relationships
  • Experienced in developing new business, generating high-quality proposals and research to support pitches
  • An excellent communicator both written and orally, with proven abilities in data visualisation and presenting research advice in an engaging and accessible way
  • Experienced project manager on complex multi-market, mixed-method projects, able to organise a team to deliver against objectives, timeframes and profitability
  • Experienced people manager, with a track record in developing people
  • Excellent attention to detail and data quality when conducting research
  • Solutions-focused, creative thinker, with experience of developing and employing new approaches to address client needs
