Job Description

The role

As we continue to improve the pace and breadth of our reporting, we are looking for a highly experienced accounting professional to join our team as we build the Finance function of the future.

Reporting to the Technical Accounting Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing accounting advice under IFRS globally across all functions, assisting in the preparation and review of internal accounting policy guidance, liaising with external auditors, supporting the preparation and review of Checkout.com’s financial statements and communicating accounting outcomes and requirements to senior stakeholders. This role will have oversight over the calculation of expected credit losses and share-based payment expenses reported globally.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Provide accounting advice on a range of IFRS topics including revenue recognition, financial instruments, software capitalisation, leases and impairment

  • As a key member of the Technical Accounting team, providing oversight on the calculation of complex global accounting topics such as expected credit losses and share-based payment expense

  • Assist or lead the determination of group accounting policies and the development and maintenance of internal guidance manuals, including running the accounting decisions for new products and geographic expansion

  • Assist or lead the assessment and implementation of new and amended accounting standards, including IFRS 18 in the near term

  • Communicate with senior internal stakeholders, including the Executive team, and lead complex accounting discussions with external auditors and internally with functions such as Treasury, Tax and legal entity financial controllers

  • Assist financial controllers with financial statement preparation and local GAAP advice as necessary, including disclosure requirements and completeness


Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified accountant (CA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent) with 8 years post-qualification experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of international accounting standards, in particular IFRS 15, IFRS 9 and IFRS 2

  • Exceptional written and communication skills, in particular the production of accounting analysis memos and simplifying complex accounting concepts for non-accountant senior stakeholders

  • Experience in the preparation, review or audit of financial statements prepared under IFRS, including complex disclosure notes

  • Experience of accounting within an international environment and communication with external auditors

Experience of US GAAP and financial services industry is desirable but not essential.
