This role operates on a hybrid schedule requiring two days of in-office collaboration per week. The position can be based in either our San Francisco office or our new New York City office. 

About the Role

The Director of Global IKEA Partnerships is responsible for owning Taskrabbit’s global IKEA partnership strategy and execution, with a focus on cross-region initiatives and high-visibility programs, both IKEA Furniture Assembly and beyond core assembly services. This is a critical leadership role within Business Development and a key driver of Taskrabbit’s long-term growth with its most strategic partner.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Business Development, this role centralizes global IKEA initiatives, ensures alignment across regions, and serves as the primary point of accountability for Taskrabbit’s global relationship with IKEA. The Director will work closely with regional leaders, cross-functional partners, and senior IKEA stakeholders to develop, scale, and operationalize global programs. 

This role will travel 50% of the time, often to Europe. Most often, they will be on the road visiting IKEA Markets in our 8 countries, Global Ingka HQ in Sweden, and Taskrabbit hubs in SF, NY, and London. Due to significant travel expectations, this role is accepting applications from the East Coast and Western Europe. In addition to business travel, there will be expected monthly travel to hub offices for in-person collaboration with colleagues.

ResponsibilitiesGlobal Partnership Strategy & Execution
  • Develop and execute the global IKEA partnership strategy, aligning long-term objectives with near-term execution across regions.
  • Own major global IKEA initiatives and programs beyond assembly, including Home Improver, IKEA Marketing initiatives, and Goal Letter commitments.
  • Drive strategic planning and prioritization across global and regional IKEA workstreams.
  • Prepare synthesized updates and recommendations for executive leadership, including senior Taskrabbit and IKEA stakeholders.
Cross-Region Leadership & Governance
  • Lead cross-region IKEA projects, ensuring consistent execution while balancing regional market needs.
  • Establish operating rhythms, success metrics, and governance models for global initiatives.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities across markets, and proactively manage escalations.
Partnership Development & Growth
  • Serve as a senior advisor and strategic partner to IKEA, leveraging a deep understanding of IKEA’s priorities and operating model.
  • Identify opportunities to expand and evolve the partnership through new programs, services, and commercial models.
  • Influence internal product, marketing, and operational roadmaps to support global IKEA priorities.
Team Leadership & Management
  • Directly manage the EU Senior Manager of IKEA Partnerships and the NA Director of IKEA Partnerships.
  • Provide functional leadership to the IKEA Partnerships organization, with the NA Director maintaining a solid-line relationship to this role and a dotted-line relationship to the GM, North America.
  • Partner closely with EU leadership, including the IKEA Program Lead EU and regional partner managers, ensuring alignment without disrupting established regional structures.
  • Deliver results through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring for team members.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Legal, and Finance to ensure seamless execution of global IKEA initiatives.
  • Act as the primary liaison between IKEA and internal stakeholders for global programs and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
  • 12+ years of progressively advancing experience in partnerships, business development, or account management, ideally within a marketplace, retail, or platform-based business.
  • Proven experience leading complex, multi-region partnerships with senior executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence product strategy, operational priorities, and executive decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of financial metrics, including P&L, ROI, and performance management.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and drive clarity and execution.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams in a matrixed organization.

Compensation & Benefits: 

At Taskrabbit, our approach to compensation is designed to be competitive, transparent, and equitable. Total compensation consists of base pay + bonus + benefits + perks. The base pay range for this position is $145,000 - $207,000. This range is representative of base pay only, and does not include any other total cash compensation amounts, such as company bonus or benefits. Final offer amounts may vary from the amounts listed above and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, geography, and level.
