Business Unit: Real Estate Equity - Europe

Location: London UK

Job Summary

This position will be a key business partner for Real Estate Core Equity business line. They will have oversight and management of the fund finance team responsible for Barings European Core Property Fund. This team is currently covering Barings flagship real estate equity fund.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Strategic partner / advisor to the Core fund team.
  • Source, negotiate and manage debt finance.
  • Day to day monitoring of operational and financial risk (including liquidity risk, capital risk, credit risk, tax risk and foreign exchange risk).
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risk and optimise fund performance.
  • Design processes to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Regular meetings with and presentations to investors.
  • Responsible for all aspects of real estate transactions structuring, governance, executing etc.
  • Supervision of monthly and quarterly fund reporting cycles, including co-ordination and review of quarterly NAVs (IFRS and INREV), US GAAP reconciliations and payment of distributions.
  • Supervision of annual financial / tax reporting process, including audit of the entities.
  • Analysis of budgeted income, opex and capex expenditure.
  • Management and appointment of service providers (administrators, tax advisers, lawyers etc).
  • Input and oversight of various systems development projects
  • May also be required to assist with other projects as required by Barings from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Highly organised, self-starter capable of operating with little oversight.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Possess the gravitas to influence senior internal and external stakeholders and advisors.
  • Effective leader with proven track record of leading teams.
  • Ability to challenge and improve existing process.
  • Ability to multitask across a high volume of tasks.
  • Ability to interpret and manage complex financial models.
  • 10 years+ experience in commercial Real Estate demonstrating sound commercial acumen including understanding of Real Estate valuations and other Real Estate performance metrics.
  • Advanced excel.
  • 10 years+ IFRS knowledge on Real Estate standards.
  • Experience with open ended real estate funds.
  • Qualified Accountant.
