Job Description:

Position Summary

Epiq Counsel, a division of Epiq Global, enables ASX200 in-house departments to keep up with the demands of their business.  We provide lawyers, paralegals, legal operations professionals, and contract negotiators to our clients on a cost-effective, flexible basis. We are a trusted partner for law departments that have more work than the capacity of their team.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, commercially oriented individual to build and lead Epiq Counsel’s Australia operations. You will be responsible for all aspects of the business—recruiting legal professionals, managing and growing client relationships, and building a team.  You will work closely with Epiq’s sales and operations teams in APAC and will leverage the infrastructure of Epiq’s Australian operations as well as Epiq Counsel’s operations in the U.S.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and talent management: You will design and implement an overall recruiting strategy required to build a roster of exceptional legal professionals. This will include sourcing, recruiting and assessing candidates.  You will make all hiring decisions.
  • Client Development and Marketing: You will work with Epiq’s sales team to build a go to market strategy for Epiq Counsel that focuses on Australia based ASX200 and will accompany the sales team to client meetings to describe the Epiq Counsel model and value proposition.  You will also partner with Epiq’s marketing team to produce collateral for client development and for recruiting legal professionals.
  • Fulfillment: You will lead and execute all aspects of the process from when a client indicates they have a need for assistance from Epiq Counsel to the commencement of an engagement, including evaluating which professionals on the Epiq Counsel roster are best suited for the engagement, submitting resumes to the client and coordinating the client onboarding process when an engagement starts. You will set pricing and other engagement terms and negotiate engagement letters with clients.
  • Engagement Management:  For each engagement, you will communicate with client and Epiq Counsel professional throughout the course of engagement to ensure its success. You will review time entries of the Epiq Counsel professionals prior to submission of the invoice to a client.
  • Client Management:  Working with Epiq’s sales team, you will be responsible for expanding Epiq’s relationship throughout the client’s law department.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in the legal industry, ideally that includes practicing law and legal recruiting for a portion of that time.
  • A demonstrated track record of building successful client relationships.
  • Comfortable making decisions independently in the face of ambiguity
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior success in fast-paced, high-growth organisations that required making fast decisions in unstructured environments.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Intellectual curiosity, EQ, judgment, and service orientation. Self-confident, resilient, willing and able to overcome adversity and ambiguity. Take ownership of challenges and seek to solve them.
  • Highly organized, calm under pressure and have a willingness to dig into the details.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Benefits:

  • Compensation commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive employee benefits.
  • Access to professional development resources and learning and development programs. #LI-REMOTE #LI-RC1
