MBRYONICS is at the forefront of free space optical communications. Our product

portfolio covers a wide range of emerging technologies from photonic integrated circuits to advanced optical systems and embedded software solutions. Our optical communications systems are integrated and deployed in satellite communications systems. The work is exciting and challenging and is at the forefront of the technology domains. MBRYONICS seeks a Director Communications & Public Affairs to lead and execute our internal and external communications activities while developing strategic relationships across political, institutional, and commercial networks.

This is a hands-on, operational role for a capable communicator who can craft clear, credible stories across technical and general audiences—from optical satellite systems to inspiring recruitment campaigns. The successful candidate will play a key role in how MBRYONICS presents itself to the world: as an Irish deep-tech company operating in global defence and space sectors with professionalism, neutrality, and purpose.

The role requires working closely with the CEO, leadership team, and external consultants across Europe and the U.S., ensuring consistent, impactful communication aligned with MBRYONICS' brand, culture, and strategic goals

What you'll do

1. Communications Execution

  • Implement and coordinate MBRYONICS' global communications strategy across civil, enterprise, and government/defence audiences.
  • Develop engaging written and visual content for public audiences—including website copy, social media posts, press releases, recruitment campaigns, and multimedia storytelling.
  • Support brand awareness and talent attraction through compelling, values-driven storytelling that showcases MBRYONICS as a leading Irish technology employer.
  • Manage internal communications channels to maintain alignment and culture across teams.
  • Prepare materials, presentations, and speaking notes for leadership engagements, investor meetings, and public forums.
  • Ensure message consistency and brand coherence across all internal and external content.

2. Public Affairs & External Relations

  • Build and manage relationships with political, institutional, and industry stakeholders in Ireland, EMEA, and North America.
  • Work with external consultants to coordinate advocacy and government engagement activities, ensuring alignment with MBRYONICS' long-term strategy and values as an Irish company.
  • Monitor policy and funding developments in the EU, ESA, and U.S. dual-use/space ecosystems; brief leadership on opportunities and risks.
  • Support participation in national and international industry events, parliamentary committees, and policy roundtables.

3. Strategic Relationship Development

  • Develop enduring professional relationships with customers, agencies, and partners to support long-term positioning and reputation.
  • Feed insights from government, institutional, and market interactions into MBRYONICS' commercial and brand strategies.
  • Represent MBRYONICS with integrity and technical credibility across all interactions.

Who you are

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years’ experience in communications, public affairs, or stakeholder engagement within technology, aerospace, telecoms, or dual-use sectors.
  • Strong writing and content-creation skills—capable of simplifying complex technical subjects for general and professional audiences alike.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage communications consultants, PR agencies, and political advisors.
  • Experience in developing brand awareness and recruitment campaigns through digital and social channels.
  • Understanding of political and institutional landscapes in Ireland, the EU, and ideally the U.S.
  • High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills; able to work cross-functionally and diplomatically across different cultures and viewpoints.
  • Comfortable balancing Ireland’s neutral positioning while engaging credibly with defence-related audiences.

Desirable

  • Experience with EU programs (ESA, Horizon, IRIS²) or U.S. DoD/DIU/ United States Space Force/Pentagon frameworks.
  • Background in journalism, strategic communications, or policy analysis.
  • Familiarity with optical communications, photonics, or aerospace technologies (or the ability to learn fast).
