Job Description

The director of commercial finance will provide strategic business partnering and insight to the Regional FD and business leaders on the financial and operational performance of the region, as well as acting as a representative for the region at a group and cross regional level. They are responsible for budgeting and forecasting for the region, as well as financial support for deal analysis and decisions. They work together alongside the business leaders to drive the financial performance of the region via strategic finance business partnering, and insightful and forward looking analysis.

 

Responsibilities

  • Own the overall financial performance of the region, sharing accountability with regional leaders and RFD
  • Own and deliver the regional budgets and forecasts to RFD, regional leadership and Group Finance, providing strategic financial insight and challenge.
  • Ensure regional decision making is guided and influenced by high quality and insightful analysis, forecasts, and scenario modelling
  • Act as a point of escalation and advice for commercial decisions in the region
  • Advise on commercial bidding processes, focussing on quality modelling, and pricing and scoring optimisation.
  • Oversee the financial integrity of major contracts in the region, ensuring compliance with policies and accounting standards.
  • Identify and drive financial improvement initiatives across the region, targeting efficiency, profitability, and cash flow.
  • Support regional budgeting and forecasting processes by ensuring regional strategies and priorities are captured and reflected in regional submissions
  • Support the financial control team in production of monthly variance analysis
  • Ensure accounting standards and financial controls are applied consistently with the support of the financial control team
  • Represent the region in global or group-level finance discussions, ensuring local perspectives are reflected.
  • Promote collaboration and best practice sharing across sub-regions and with other regional finance leaders.
  • Other ad hoc projects as they arise and impact the business from a financial or operational perspective.
  • Line management responsibilities of direct reports
  • Work across Europe Finance team to support whole team priorities and provide appropriate guidance and support as necessary.
  • SOX control responsibilities are to be adhered to where applicable

Qualifications

Key Requirements

  • Strong strategic finance and business partnering skills, with experience influencing business executives.
  • Strong commercial acumen, able to weigh financial, operational, and strategic considerations in decision-making.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly in revenue recognition and contract accounting.
  • Ability to manage across a diverse portfolio of contracts, prioritising issues and interventions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to act as a bridge between group, regional, and sector teams.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial and regional issues into clear insights for senior leadership
  • Substantial understanding of multi-currency environment, accounting principles and processes
