ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assures that the philosophy and mission of MercyOne is represented in the operation and direction of assigned departments. Communicates and promotes a strong commitment to this mission.
Accountable for leading and supporting ongoing change.
Owns medical group key results of performance for designated areas of responsibility (Personalized Care; Team Engagement; Quality; Financial Performance; and Growth).
Demonstrates and sets expectations of professional standards/specialty standards specific to designated areas of responsibility/oversight.
Responsible for hiring, onboarding, evaluation, and performance monitoring of medical group colleagues in designated areas of responsibility.
Completes annual performance evaluations, accountability conversations, and disciplinary action of colleagues.
Ensures adequate support and provider staffing in line with organizational standards.
Develops, implements, and adheres to all departmental/organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
Acts as conduit to other support areas and resources helping to identify/escalate/problem solve issues in collaboration with support leadership.
Develops, implements and periodically reviews department/organization policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services complying with MercyOne and Trinity Health policies, Joint Commission requirements and Federal and State regulations.
Maintains current knowledge base of trends, policies, regulatory standards, and legislation and advises administration when pertinent.
Develops and maintains departmental staffing plan detailing appropriate colleague classifications and qualifications consistent with the department’s operational plan, projected volumes, and other relevant indicators. Assures daily staffing adheres to the plan.
Continuously assesses and improves the department’s performance based on, but not limited to the department’s quality plan monitors, process improvement initiatives, patient/associate satisfaction data and associate safety and injury prevention.
Interviews and selects qualified colleagues and clinicians and assures associates are appropriately oriented. Continually develops staff through competency assessments, in-services and continuing education, and performance appraisal processes.
Maintains effective inter-departmental communication and cooperation.
Takes an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development and participates in education programs.
Performs other responsibilities as requested by supervisor, manager, or department head.

Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to clients, physicians, employees, and MercyOne businesses.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with a high level of organizational skills and ability to manage and complete work in an efficient and thorough manner.
Flexibility in handling and prioritizing completion of multiple tasks/projects in a timely and organized manner.
Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of MercyOne.
Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches any conflict in a constructive manner. Helps identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolutions.
Assumes responsibility for the performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
Must be able to set and organize their own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful due to time constraints.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare or related field required
Bachelor's degree in business, nursing, health administration, or related field required (master’s degree preferred)
Experience managing colleagues in a healthcare setting preferred
Experience working with physicians and advance practice providers preferred
Experience with process improvement methodologies preferred (Performance Excellence, LEAN, Six Sigma)
Must have excellent communication/interpersonal skills to deal effectively with physicians. Frequently interacts with medical staff, employees and administration.
Must demonstrate excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form.
Proven leadership skills in relationship to motivating and empowering staff
Must have the ability to set direction and lead with minimal direction from others; translate and communicate the organization's strategic plan into tactical and measurable goals.
Preferred experience working in an organization of comparable size and complexity, preferably in healthcare.
