BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION

Capital Markets provides integrated capital markets products, investment banking advisory services, corporate lending and top-ranked research to corporate, government and institutional clients around the world.  The goal is to be the leading Capital Markets franchise in Canada and the lead relationship bank for key clients globally.

JOB PURPOSE 

Reporting to the Managing Director, Chief Administration Officer, the Director, Client Strategy, is responsible for supporting a variety of ongoing activities and events for the Client Management Group within the London office.  This group liaises with the various business lines within CIBC Capital Markets to maximize efficiencies in the business and provide a seamless, consistent approach to client marketing.  This includes the development of marketing materials, the creation and execution of sponsorships and events, and the sharing of information and best practices. Typically, incumbents have a delegated responsibility for ensuring the success of project management, oversight of events, creating communications, overseeing the corporate ticketing program, creation and coordination of marketing materials and industry sponsorships and managing all logistics to deliver the successful execution of client events that enhance the client experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Envision then work with business teams to develop, plan, execute and evaluate +20 client facing bespoke events annually – both in person and virtual - including:

o    Receptions

o    Thought leadership workshops

o    Mini-conferences and summits

o    Sporting/entertainment events

o    Lunches and dinners

  • Develop, execute and support brand positioning and client communication around planned events
  • Liaise with Marketing leads for social media and website event promotion
  • Key driver for event execution onsite in multiple market locations, managing all required elements for successful execution including:

o    Event research and scoping including budget creation and approvals

o    Venue liaison

o    Run of show development and execution

o    Onsite branding planning and execution

o    Speaker prep including communications drafts

o    Day of lead for event delivery

  • When required, lead sponsorship direction in tandem with planned client events and conference participation
  • Act as the liaison for Bank event initiatives
  • Oversee communication of events to Capital Markets along with client briefing notes and provide post event reporting
  • Consolidate event expenditures against the overall plan

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Key relationships with internal CIBC employees, teams and departments across the organization at the Peer and Management levels to share and exchange information required to complete assigned work.

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES

AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS 

  • As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • +7 years in event management
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of individuals
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Accuracy/Attention to Detail--ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Discretion, diplomacy, patience
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to work within a team or autonomously
  • Self-starter / good initiative
  • Experienced marketer
  • Experience in the Financial Industry an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Normal office environnement (desks, PC, cubicles, etc.)
  • High work volumes during peak periods, tight deadlines and confidentiality.
  • The individual will be required to work offsite periodically to support various client events and sponsorships.
