The Opportunity

As Business Development Director, you will take ownership of a defined territory (UK) and be responsible for generating new business, expanding strategic accounts and delivering sustainable revenue growth across Perceptive Discovery's pre-clinical services portfolio.

Working closely with scientific and operational experts, you'll help clients address complex discovery challenges while positioning Perceptive Discovery as a trusted partner throughout the early stages of drug development.

This role offers significant autonomy and visibility, allowing you to influence commercial strategy while building lasting partnerships with leading biotech and pharmaceutical organisations.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Drive new business growth across biotechnology, pharmaceutical and life sciences organisations.
  • Develop and execute strategic territory and account plans that consistently deliver revenue growth.
  • Build, manage and convert a robust sales pipeline whilst maintaining accurate forecasting and CRM data.
  • Identify and pursue high-value opportunities within both existing and prospective client accounts.
  • Lead proposal strategy, executive summaries and commercial responses for key opportunities.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders to deliver compelling client solutions and successful bid pursuits.
  • Build trusted relationships with scientific, procurement and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Establish long-term strategic partnerships with the objective of becoming a preferred supplier.
  • Collaborate with marketing and business development leadership to identify new target accounts and introduce new service offerings to the market.
  • Develop account growth strategies that increase engagement, expand service adoption and grow wallet share.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated business developer with strong scientific curiosity and a demonstrated ability to deliver commercial results.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience selling pre-clinical, drug discovery, translational research or outsourced scientific services to biotechnology, pharmaceutical and life sciences organisations.
  • A strong understanding of the drug discovery and pre-clinical development process.
  • A track record of developing territories and account plans that deliver consistent year-on-year growth.
  • Demonstrated success in winning new business and expanding existing client relationships.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles and building high-value strategic partnerships.
  • Strong pipeline management and forecasting capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to influence both scientific and commercial audiences.
  • A consultative, relationship-driven approach to business development.
  • Experience using Salesforce CRM and strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • MBA desirable.
  • Fluent English.
