Then you might just be the Director we are looking for. 

Golin is recruiting for a Director on a FTC for 12 months (maternity cover), to work across its Ice Cream portfolio covering both Global and UK on an adhoc and growth basis.

We act as both the global and UK PR agencies for the world’s best-selling ice cream brand. Following a 20+ year tenure, Golin works closely with both the brand team and a 15 strong IAT on fully integrated, earned first campaigns.

The work that we do is consistently pushing the boundaries, the brand is looking at new and innovative ways to speak to consumers and so an understanding of the earned first mindset and how an earned story can travel across traditional media, social publishers, social platforms and influencers is essential.

We have a truly hybrid team across corporate, consumer, strategy, creative & talent and so being able to collaborate with and lead multiple teams is essential.


As a Director you will:

Play an essential role in creating change for our clients. You drive our clients’ business as a brand steward and should have a genuine interest and passion in the brands that you represent. You are curious, creative, brave, inclusive and collaborative. Furthermore, you should be driven and take pride in the commercial results driven by your work and obsessed and flawless in your execution. You ensure we’re delivering the maximum impact in leading and managing accounts for the agency.

As a Director, you are a relationship-builder. You add value to any conversation and always advocate for exceptional and brave work. You can identify and know how to bring great ideas and programs to life. You lead teams, campaigns and initiatives using your portfolio client lead above you to sense check, problem solve and push into innovative new areas for your clients.


What we are looking to you to demonstrate:

  • You will have experience of working in integrated comms, bringing knowledge of how earned first thinking can travel across all disciplines and channels
  • Lead the Ice Cream Portfolio account teams, managing a team of Managers and Associates to - Establish best-in-class operating practices for campaign delivery – Client management, campaign activation, talent management, event management, asset production and press office
  • Be a big believer in an earned first creative idea, knowing exactly how to land a story in editorial press and an ability to coach more junior members in effective press office delivery.
  • You will be obsessed with social and social trends and understand the nuanced DNA of trends and how they travel
  • You have worked on Global work as well as local activation work and have a good understanding of how to work cross market and manage multiple client stakeholders.
  • You will have experience of working with planning and creative departments, understanding when to bring in the right expertise in order to work smartly and deliver best in class thinking.
  • Work well with other IPG agencies to create truly collaborative teams of experts across paid, earned and owned.
  • Be able to manage large portfolio accounts that have multiple brand teams, stakeholders, IATs and internal teams help ladder all the work to one big category level vision across corporate and consumer.
  • You have worked on high profile talent, complex and layered campaigns that have significant elements of event management, logistics planning, asset production (photography, videography, wire assets, etc) and red-carpet management.
  • Whilst you are the conductor and holder of all knowledge on these big campaigns, taking a helicopter view on all moving parts, you also aren't’ afraid to get into the detail and reach down to ensure all details, client requests and logistics are being managed handles and delegated across your team.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and resourcefulness - always looking to improve skills and find new/better ways to drive efficiency.
  • Be open to campaign plans switching direction through the delivery process – the client is incredibly collaborative and plans are tweaked as we go to deliver the most effective campaign possible. This gives us freedom to challenge the client, to test and learn, and requires the most passionate of team players.
  • Assume responsibility and ownership for the quality of your work and ensure the same is delivered by your team – holding them accountable to a certain standard and detail in work.
  • Take ownership & management of all financials across accounts and projects, working closely with the finance team to ensure forecasting is completed correctly and under/overspend is monitored and flagged.
  • Manage up to a senior exec leadership team that runs our brand portfolio keeping them updated on all priorities, any concerns/flags to be aware of and updating on all financials, forecasting and new projects unlocked.
