Job Description

Role Overview

Reporting to the EVP Product, the ASOS Design Menswear Director is accountable for defining the vision and strategy for ASOS Design Menswear and driving performance across all categories. Working closely with Creative and Brand teams, this leader plays a pivotal role in representing Menswear within the broader ASOS strategy — ensuring the Menswear customer is front and centre in strategic decisions, championing category insight, and influencing cross functional priorities. They ensure Menswear contributes meaningfully to ASOS’s commercial, brand, and customer goals, embedding a cohesive design, product and trading strategy that aligns with the direction of the overall business.‑functional priorities. You will be responsible for…

  • Defining the vision and strategy for the ASOS Design MW assortment and categories, and cascading this throughout the team
  • Working closely with Central Merchandising and EVP Product to agree and manage performance targets and KPIs for each category
  • Maintaining visibility of the overall assortment width and depth, agreeing these with Heads Of (direct reports) & central merchandising
  • Working collaboratively with the Design Director and team to ensure alignment with the brand vision
  • Working collaboratively with Sourcing and Sustainability teams on key programmes, including Fashion with Integrity  
  • Working closely with Customer and Commercial teams to maintain a global outlook with regards to market trends and best practice within the industry
  • Identifying opportunities or challenges within the assortment, making quick and effective trade-off decisions between categories to pursue profitable growth
  • Providing strong leadership and direction to the Heads of Category, challenging them where necessary to create a global assortment that meets ASOS’ mission and delivers against OKRs
  • Collaborating cross-functionally to ensure smooth running of the business unit and representing Menswear within the wider ASOS strategy.

Qualifications

Who we’d like to meet…

  • A Product leader with substantial experience in leading Menswear Product teams at scale
  • Strong strategic vision for the ASOS Design Menswear brand, with a clear understanding of its positioning and contribution within the wider ASOS portfolio.
  • Brand management capability to work with Brand & Creative teams on defining brand positioning and attributes  
  • Fashion expertise to translate the brand vision into product categories and challenge the assortment
  • Technical knowledge to oversee, manage and challenge product development decisions
  • Ability to operate within a fast-paced environment and successfully lead teams through change
  • Knowledge and ideas to drive improvements in speed to market
  • Ability to interpret consumer insight to drive better outcomes for the overall range mix
  • Commercial acumen to set targets, evaluate performance and identify actions to close gaps
  • Strong relationship management skills to develop and grow relationships with internal teams and key suppliers
  • Strong negotiation skills to drive buying / margin benefits when buying at scale
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to drive the best results for the business unit and ASOS
