Aristocrat is a highly successful business delivering Class III and Class II gaming machines across the EMEA region. As the Director of Accounting - Gaming, this senior finance role is responsible for the delivery of accurate and timely accounting and reporting services for the EMEA region. This role will lead the UK based accounting team and partner with finance leaders across the business. This role is responsible for all financial areas in relation to accounting and reporting for EMEA. This role is also a key business partner, responsible for reporting and analytical reviews. As an experienced senior finance individual, you will have solid gross margin and manufacturing accounting experience and be well versed in change management and team structure
What You'll Do
Statutory, Tax and Regulatory Reporting
- Accountable for oversight and delivery of all EMEA financial statements accurately and on time to meet local statutory and regulatory requirements. This includes the preparation of annual statutory accounts for the UK, Spain, Cyprus and Austria
- Plan and communicate reporting timetable; coordinate all teams involved in the process, as needed (e.g., tax and Group technical team) for month end and year end reporting.
- Responsible for all tax related filings and documents, including monthly VAT in multiple jurisdictions, quarterly UK Corp Tax and payment, weekly Spain Maddock filing, and others, as applicable
- Responsible for any other regulatory filings, including UK ONS surveys
People Leadership
- Senior people leader, responsible for driving a high-performance culture where quality output matters. Lead innovative projects to drive people engagement across the team, as well as continual team improvements
- Responsible for the allocation of resources across the team
- Performance management responsibilities and creation of performance goals and objectives, to further develop the accounting team
- Responsible for the coaching, mentoring and development of team
- Practice positive leadership to foster exceptional goals and team culture
Technical Accounting
- Point of contact for technical accounting support for EMEA finance team and Group
- Completion of technical accounting assessments as required (with Group specialist support for IFRS and leading the UK assessments)
Audit (Internal and External)
- Responsible for the successful completion of external audit for the EMEA region, including financial statements
- Provides assistance to any internal audits for EMEA as required
General Ledger and Accounting
- Manages the team to deliver on gaming and non-gaming asset activity to ensure proper reporting, capitalization and classification of fixed assets
- Oversight of the full P&L & Balance sheets for 3 entities (UK, Spanish & HoldCo) including reviews of Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Drive transformation and improvement projects within the accounting function
Business partnering
- Key connector of multiple stakeholders including local Commercial Finance and Supply and Operations, System and IT, Group Planning, Technical Accounting and Tax teams in AUS
- Understand customer (internal and external) needs; adaptability is required to drive and deliver superior service to key stakeholders
- Advises stakeholders on accounting impacts of transactions / helps develop solutions to challenges with key focus on revenue transactions, margins analysis and revenue recognition
- Supports the team to be value add and effective business partners
Other
- Embrace technology to help drive efficiency and process improvements across the team
- Supports IT and System implementation from Sage to D365
- Present business case to stakeholders on accounting impacts of transactions / helps develop solutions to challenges
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a finance leadership role, with experience of financial and accounting close, including statutory reporting and revenue recognition
- Experience in team structure and change management
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; Qualified ACCA or MBA
- Strong understanding of IFRS and statutory reporting process
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, including end-to-end accounting processes and revenue recognition
- Experience in ERP implementations
- Must be experienced in VAT/Intrastat and associated filings
- Excellent communicator who can present, write, and influence all levels of staff and management
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects; ability to meet changing demands and to adapt to frequently changing priorities
- Must possess a high level of personal and professional accountability and be able to enlist the cooperation of peer groups involved in common business goals and objectives
- Team oriented with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to foster positive team environment; ability to manage team to meet tight deadlines
- Detailed understanding of the importance of robust control environment
- Proficiency in accounting and financial computer software; experience with ERP and consolidation tool (PaFe/TM1 is an advantage) Sage and Microsoft D365 is a must
- Experience in identifying and driving change initiatives to deliver process improvements and efficiency
- Audit experience (external auditor, internal auditor, or working with auditors)
