Role Overview:

We are looking for a Digital Business Analyst to join our Digital Technology team. Reporting into our Lead Analyst, this role will support the discovery, analysis and documentation of digital product and platform changes across F1, translating business goals into clear, testable requirements and artefacts in Jira and Confluence that align with F1’s architecture standards and delivery governance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Discovery & Analysis

  • Participate in discovery for new features and changes (workshops, interviews, requirements reviews).Gather, clarify and document functional and non‑functional requirements in Confluence.
  • Support integration of multiple requirement sets into a single, coherent scope

Requirements & Documentation

  • Create and maintain structured artefacts such as:
  • Business requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria in Jira.
  • Process and data flow diagrams, simple models and journey maps.
  • Supporting documentation (assumptions, dependencies, open questions).
  • Use existing templates and patterns to ensure consistency and reusability.
  • Keep Jira–Confluence links up to date so both remain a single source of truth.

Architecture Standards & Solution Shaping

  • Apply existing F1 architecture standards and patterns when documenting solutions.
  • Work with architects, engineers and senior BAs to ensure proposed changes align with platform constraints and design guidelines.
  • Flag potential gaps or conflicts in solution options for review.

Data Analysis & Modelling

  • Use predefined mechanisms and tools (e.g. GA4, simple data extracts, dashboards) to analyse usage, impact and edge cases.
  • Support definition of data requirements (events, fields, IDs, mappings) for digital features and integrations.
  • Contribute to basic data models, mapping tables and tracking specs.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Communicate clearly with product, operations, QA, data, engineering and vendor teams at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Capture, refine and confirm stakeholder needs, highlighting trade‑offs and constraints.
  • Maintain stakeholder lists and contacts in relevant Confluence artefacts.

Meetings & Workshops

  • Help design and prepare effective workshops and working sessions (agendas, objectives, pre‑reads, templates).
  • Facilitate or co‑facilitate sections of meetings, capturing decisions, actions and outcomes.
  • Share best practice formats and templates with peers.

Delivery Governance & Ways of Working

  • Provide input to F1 Digital delivery governance processes (e.g. scope reviews, change approvals, readiness checks).
  • Ensure requirements and documentation support decision‑making in governance forums.
  • Align work to agreed delivery cadences and ways of working (sprints, milestones, cut‑offs).

QA, UAT & Readiness Support

  • Write clear, testable acceptance criteria that distinguish QA vs UAT outcomes.
  • Support QA and UAT planning by ensuring traceability from requirements to tests and defects (Jira, Testmo).
  • Participate in UAT sessions where relevant, confirming coverage of key scenarios and capturing feedback.

Vendor & Partner Collaboration

  • Support vendor identification and selection by contributing to RFIs/RFPs and documenting requirements and evaluation criteria.
  • Maintain a clear view of partner responsibilities and dependencies in Confluence and Jira.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Delivery colleagues as directed.

Workload & Time Management

  • Manage multiple tasks across projects and products, based on agreed priorities.
  • Timebox analysis activities to avoid context switching and communicate early if workload becomes unmanageable.
  • Seek guidance on prioritisation when needed and proactively update Jira status and Confluence pages to reflect progress.

What Are We Looking For?

Experience

Prior to the role it would be essential that you:

  • Have experience working in a digital / product / technology environment (e.g. websites, apps, platforms, data products) in a business analyst, product, or similar role.
  • Have hands‑on experience with:
  • Jira (or similar) for capturing user stories, acceptance criteria and tracking delivery.
  • Confluence (or similar) for documenting requirements, decisions and designs.
  • Have participated in:
  • Requirements gathering sessions, workshops or interviews.
  • Multi‑stakeholder initiatives involving product, technology and business teams.
  • Have supported or worked alongside QA / UAT activity:
  • Understanding how requirements translate into test cases and defect logs.
  • Contributing to UAT or acceptance testing, even informally.
  • Have demonstrated the ability to:
  • Manage your own workload across multiple tasks or small projects.
  • Communicate clearly via written documents and meeting notes.
  • Work with external vendors or partners, or at least cross‑team collaborators.

Some desirable experience that you may bring to the role:

  • Experience in media, sports, entertainment, streaming or other fan/consumer products.
  • Exposure to:
  • AI‑enabled or data‑driven products (e.g. recommendation engines, chat/agent experiences, rules‑heavy tools like the F1 Rules Assistant).
  • Privacy, consent, and compliance topics (e.g. CMPs, data protection, vendor governance).
  • Experience working in multi‑vendor or outsourced delivery models, coordinating analysis work across partners.
  • Familiarity with:
  • Analytics and tracking (GA4, tagging specifications, events and properties).
  • Test management tools (e.g. Testmo) and real‑time bug capture tools (e.g. Shake) in conjunction with Jira.
  • Experience contributing to:
  • RFIs/RFPs, vendor assessments or supplier selection.
  • Continuous improvement of templates, standards or ways of working in a team.

Qualifications

You will need to have current UK driving license in this role. Not essential to be successful in the role but you may also have the following qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g. Digital, Marketing, Media, Business, Computing, Information Systems, Data/Analytics).

  • Cloud or digital platform fundamentals (e.g. AWS, Azure, Salesforce).

Prior to the role it is essential that you demonstrate:

Core BA skills

  • Writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Producing structured documentation (requirements, flows, simple diagrams).
  • Using templates and standards to maintain consistency.

  • Comfortable with basic collaboration tools (e.g. whiteboards, shared docs, Teams/Slack).

Analysis & modelling

  • Ability to interpret basic data and metrics to inform decisions (e.g. user behaviour, incident patterns).
  • Understanding of simple process and data flows – how information moves between systems.
  • Awareness of non‑functional considerations (e.g. performance, reliability, privacy) at a basic level.

Stakeholder & communication

  • Ability to explain requirements and options in a clear, concise way – verbally and in writing.
  • Experience capturing and playing back stakeholder feedback, decisions and trade‑offs.
  • Comfortable contributing to workshops and meetings, not just attending.

Ways of working & governance

  • Familiarity with agile or iterative delivery methods.
  • Ability to follow and contribute to delivery governance processes (e.g. change control, approvals, readiness checks).
  • Understanding of the link between requirements, development, testing, UAT and go‑live.

Personal Qualities

In this role it is essential that you are:

  • Structured and organised – able to bring order to complex information and keep documentation tidy and up to date.
  • Clear communicator – comfortable explaining requirements and decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative – enjoy working with product, engineering, QA, data, operations and vendors, and open to feedback.
  • Curious and analytical – naturally dig into “why” and “how”, not just “what”, and use data where available.
  • Adaptable – willing to adjust as new information emerges, and comfortable iterating on documents and scope.
  • Detail‑conscious – pay attention to edge cases, dependencies and impacts without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Proactive – raise risks, gaps and questions early rather than waiting for them to surface in testing or production.
  • Respectful of governance and standards – understand that templates, patterns and processes exist to make delivery safer and more predictable.
  • Calm under pressure – able to support race‑day / event‑driven work, managing incidents and changes in a controlled way when required.

Career Progression - Where Can You Go Next?

Senior Business Analyst

  • Take end‑to‑end ownership for complex initiatives (e.g. AI‑powered assistants, cross‑platform fan experiences).

Alternative paths, depending on interests and strengths:

  • Product Management – focusing on strategy, roadmaps and value outcomes.
  • Solution / Data – deepening technical design and data modelling skills.

Opportunities to specialise in areas such as:

  • Data and analytics (in collaboration with DataOps).
