DEVOPS ENGINEER

The Cloud and DevOps Engineer role is responsible for supporting and empowering Catapult’s development teams to deliver products to market more readily, more safely and with less manual effort.

Reporting to the Head of Software as part of the Wearables Software Team, the successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of AWS infrastructure, strong networking skills and demonstrated experience designing, implementing and supporting mission-critical solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Working with the development teams to support application builds, continuous integration, deployments, migrations and new features and services
  • Identifying and resolving DevOps-related performance bottlenecks, performance tuning and tweaking
  • Coordinating and contributing to the continuous improvement of DevOps-related processes
  • Implementing and supporting orchestration tools for the automation of key processes across the entire stack
  • Providing key stakeholders with visibility of DevOps performance metrics
  • Planning out and documenting the work that you’ll be doing
  • Staying up to date with relevant technologies, balancing risk with effort and helping the development identify opportunities to use the best of what’s new  

What You'll Need: 

  • A relevant tertiary degree in IT (or equivalent)
  • 3+ years industry experience in DevOps roles
  • Experience working with mission-critical application infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code for AWS services (e.g. Terraform)
  • Experience with Ansible
  • Strong understanding of AWS Security best practices
  • An understanding of software development practices
  • Experience using bash and at least one additional scripting language
  • Experience with AWS automation using CLI
  • Experience with Terraform Cloud
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions
  • Experience with containerisation desirable
  • Experience working in an agile/scrum team
