Description

Phasecraft is the quantum algorithms company. We are building the mathematical foundations for quantum computing applications that solve real-world problems. Founded in 2019 by Toby Cubitt, Ashley Montanaro and John Morton, we have offices in London and Bristol, UK, and Washington DC, USA. In 2023 we completed a £13m Series A funding round led by leading Silicon Valley deep tech VC, Playground Global, and in 2024 we opened our Washington DC office led by Steve Flammia.

Phasecraft’s unprecedented access to today’s best quantum computers – through partnerships with Google, IBM, Rigetti, and QuEra – provides us with unique opportunities to develop foundational IP, inform the development of next-generation quantum hardware, and accelerate commercialisation of high-value breakthroughs.

As we continue to grow our data workflows in scale and complexity, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our talented team as a DevOps Engineer. In this newly created role, the ideal candidate will have experience in improving CI/CD processes and managing both on-prem and cloud-based server clusters.

Job Description

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable smooth and rapid delivery of code to production environments. Adopt tools and establish practices that will enhance automation and the ability to scale.
  • Manage and scale compute capability on-prem and in the cloud, ensuring availability and implementing best practices for security.
  • Deploy a flexible and robust database solution for critical experimental data.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, procedures, and workflows.
  • Work closely with the development and research teams to ensure operational requirements are met.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues, responding to incidents and implementing preventive measures.
  • Other activities as required to support the growth and success of Phasecraft.
Requirements

 Essential criteria

  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools, for example GitHub, Jenkins.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Good Python scripting ability.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps best practices.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Desirable criteria

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Knowledge of network security concepts such as VPNs, firewalls and authentication.
  • Experience with at least one cloud computing provider.
  • Programming ability beyond the scripting level.
