Please note: applicants must hold active SC clearance and be eligible to obtain DV.

This role also requires applicants to work 4 days per week on site

You’re the kind of engineer who sees a manual process and instinctively wonders how to make it better. You enjoy understanding how systems fit together, how infrastructure behaves under pressure, and how automation can turn complexity into something elegant. Most of all, you want to work somewhere your curiosity is valued  and your ideas actually shape how things are built.
At Gemba Advantage, you’ll find that environment.
We design and run secure, cloud‑native platforms for critical public‑sector organisations across the UK. The platforms you’ll help build aren’t theoretical exercises, they underpin essential operations. You’ll join two sister teams working together on one of our most mission‑focused programmes, developing a suite of business‑critical systems and solutions that people genuinely depend on.
You’ll collaborate closely with developers, customers, and experienced engineers who care deeply about modern DevOps practices. You’ll learn fast, automate boldly, and contribute to meaningful digital transformation.
This is a role for someone who wants to learn fast, automate boldly, and contribute to meaningful change.

The role:
  • You explore and experiment: Researching, prototyping, and delivering solutions that help clients solve real technical challenges.
  • You automate with intention: Building infrastructure and processes that empower developers and remove friction from delivery.
  • You build pipelines that matter: Writing CI/CD pipelines that make software delivery predictable, secure, and efficient.
  • You collaborate and improve: Taking part in reviews, offering constructive feedback, and helping fix issues that keep systems running smoothly.
  • You share what you learn: Documenting practices, spreading knowledge, and staying curious about emerging technologies.

What you'll bring:
  • Security clearance readiness: Active SC and eligibility to obtain DV (essential)
  • A proactive mindset: You enjoy learning, problem‑solving, and improving how things are built.
  • Foundational coding skills: Competence with programming or scripting languages.
  • Cloud‑native awareness: Knowledge of AWS, IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK), and container tech like Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Engineering fundamentals: Experience with Git, databases, APIs, and a strong focus on information security.
Tech we commonly use:
  • Languages: Python • Bash • Go
  • IaC: Terraform • CloudFormation • CDK
  • Cloud & Platform: AWS • Kubernetes • Docker
  • DevOps: Git • CI/CD pipelines • GitOps
  • Data: Relational & NoSQL databases • APIs

What you'll bring:
Gemba is built upon four core values that we believe make Gemba a great place to work:
  • Our people are our most important asset and we prioritise their needs accordingly
  • We succeed and fail as a team not as individuals.
  • We do the right thing and we do the thing right.
  • We maintain an overwhelming focus on the customers’ needs.
Away from our values, Gemba offers an excellent and comprehensive package to our Gembans, including great salaries, meaningful perks, a culture of truly rewarding and celebrating success, amongst many other core benefits like flexible pensions and PMI.

As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we recognise, and studies confirm, that often underrepresented candidates in the workplace are less likely to apply to roles unless they meet all skills and experience of the position.

At Gemba we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, therefore we make sure that our recruitment and selection processes never discriminate based upon age, race, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, or pregnancy, and actively welcome applications from all groups.
